Hi,
Thank you for the nice new ROM, which is really a step forward!

Nevertheless I have some trouble with BT-profiles, which I did not have with 1.12b: I need two different BT-connections, one for my GPRS-Nokia-Handy, which is a ppp-modem-link and the other for my desktop machine, which is a PAN-connection. I can configure each connection profile ALONE and make it work without any problems. But when I install both profiles, afterwards I can only see the ppp-connection. The PAN-connection appears in the list of the network template, but when I try to start it, I can't see it in the start menu.

Any ideas?

Yes, I see the problem. As a temporary workaround, install older version of PAN plugin from http://my-zaurus.narod.ru/bluetooth.html

Tried again on a newly flashed Zaurus and everything worked fine. Try to delete both connections, create them again and restart Qtopia.

Also, as the last resort, try reflashing Zaurus again with 1.22.

Hostap driver supports this card, but additional steps are needed to make it actualy working. See this thread for details: http://www.dsitri.de/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?...er=asc&start=15

Also this card needs firmware to be downloaded:

prism2_srec -gs wlan0 PM010101.hex
iwpriv wlan0 reset 1
prism2_srec -rp wlan0 RF010704.hex

I wasn't able to get hold on such card before 1.22 release, so aall this was not included in the ROM.

Yes, the Light version of the ROM will be out soon.
Great News. If you need a testing monkey for that, let me know.

Will do. Have found a couple of them already, watch my edits.

Where do you create swapfile? Although RAM is listed, only SD and CF cards are supported ATM...

  • LUS applet: in the about screen, it's not "based on GPL", it's licensed under it.
  • Screen off applet: the popup reads "prease close this"
  • An AVI file using the Xvid codec play rotated, using DX50 doesn't play at all.
  • WMV3 codec video's (most .wmv files) won't play. It detects the FPS wrong in the file info popup too.
I can mail the files to whoever is doing the testing.
  • "sometimes my zaurus suspend much before the 30 minutes I configured"Same here. If there just was an option to permanently disable the damn thing until it works, it'd be nice.
  • The default lettering for handwriting is useless since you have to draw everything higher. The bigger writing space is *really* nice to have though. If it came by default with graffiti-like bindings, I'd be in heaven.
  • The handwriting applet still takes ages to recognize non-default characters, and to save your settings once you've edited default bindings.
  • What are the "Processes to disable Screensaver" and "Processes to disable suspend"? Process that should prevent them from happening? Could you use this to prevent them from happening at all by entering a permanent process like init?
As others have pointed out, it's nice to have the Oclocking options in Kino, but putting them in the light and power options would be much better. Allow suspend on a lid-close event except when user defined apps are running would be great.
Have you improved the toolchain at all? Last time I checked, grep etc were missing switches etc...

Good luck further, guys, and great job so far.

Hi,
have installed the new ROM, looks great, but I have some problems:
  • I can't launch zsh anymore, it gives this error:
Code: [Select]
zsh: error while loading shared libraries: zsh: undefined symbol: __umodsi3
  • in the handwriting input method, I must draw the letters much more above the blue line than before
  • sometimes my zaurus suspend much before the 30 minutes I configured

HNY Anton - I'm new to Zauri and Linux, but this new ROM has made me a convert :-)

Donation to 'C3000 fund' on its way.

Thankyou for your great efforts.

First of all, I would like to thank the Cacko team for this amazing new version of the Rom, thank you guys  really a great work!

About Kino2:

-I think that the way that the function of controling the CPU frequency when playing audio is not the best one or at least could be improved. It's good that I can downclock my CPU to save battery when listening to Mp3 when my Z is in my pocket, but sometimes you hear music in the background, when surfing the web or reading an e-book or pdf file and then, I don't want the CPU frequency to slow down for example... So I suggest to change the "When playing audio: X Preset" tab (or add one) with something like: "When LCD is closed: X Preset " That way, for example, when you only play audio with the LCD closed in your pocket, kino2 automatically downclocks the CPU and when I open the LCD to check something while playing music or just surfing the web or writing a doc with the music  in the background the CPU is upclocked.

-In the playlist screen, when I untab a tab    some glitches occur, like when I disable the "album" tab and when I click the "type" tab to change its column size, "album" appears again...

-When I open Kino2, it can't auto detect MP3 files on my SD card, unlike OGG files that are displayed correctly. I must listen and add MP3s to the playlist by manually clicking  "File" > "Open..."

Update:

-Some Divx files are not displayed in the "File" > "Open..." window. I must play them through the "Files" tab in the desktop.

-The playlist is pretty hard to use IMO because when you tab a file it automatically adds it to the playlist... that makes building a big playlist and adding a bunch of files a really slow and tedious task...

-In the playlist, with random playback mode, when you select "Y" file while playing "X" file and then you click "stop" and then "play", the first song of the playlist is played and not the selected one.

Sorry for my bad english.
Just trying to improve the program.
Thank you so much again for this really great work!

First of all. Thanks for this great distribution. I used cacko 1.21b and was very pleased. Now I use the new version. It looks good. I have the same problem with me WLAN-card D-Link DCF-660W.
Quote
This card should be supported. Please, check /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf file, find entry for your card and check if contains correct card info (get it with cardctl ident)
cardctl ident shows
[CODE]product info: "D-Link", "DCF-660W",""
manfid 0xd601,0x0005
function:6 (network)
But in the dard applet it is shown as Zcomax XI-325H ....
I tried to change the /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf and removed the remark at the manfid line of this card. But it didn't change anythink.

Wish everybody a good 2005 with linux and Zaurus

To get my 660W recognised correctly I commented out the Zcomax lines and then restarted the driver (or you could just restart the Z) to get the Z to reread the config files. Just editing the file isn't enough.

I'm liking this new rom a lot, but it has even worse troubles in magnified mode (a few of my apps need it) than 1.21b did. There's no low-res versions of the icons for the toolbar and the close/help boxes on the windows. So everything gets cut off/squashed/etc - I can't even see the main qtopia menu button on the toolbar, because it's forced off the edge of the screen! It also seems to affect the scrollbars in the applications now as well.

This was never a problem on the default sharp rom; smaller versions of all the icons were selected when magnified mode was engaged. So is there any way to fix this for Cacko?

External 9800mAh LiIon battery and slimline dvd drive

well done to the cacko team! Thank you so much for bringing us the latest ROM!

Though I have one problem with my Buffalo WLI2-CF-S11 card. Don't seem to be recognised by the new ROM.

Apart from that, great job! Love the new icons!

Thanks maslovsky, I get it working with your advice and changing the entry in the hostap_cs.conf file.

On a different note, I also get my Bluetooth card working with the new ROM!
Thank you so much!!

Hi folks. At first, happy new year to all of you!

To Anton & the Cacko team: Great new rom!

However, I have one problem:

While my Wlan (Trendnet TEW-222CF) card worked just fine out-of-the-box in 1.21, it doesn't do so in 1.22.

cardctl ident gives me:
Code: [Select]
product info "Wireless", "LAN Adapter", "Version 01.02", ""
manfid 0x156, 0x0002
function:6 (network)

In the old rom, the led on the card would go on and the turn off until I activated it via the connect button. In the new rom, the light goes on the very instance I insert the card into my Z750 and so it stays. It is not recognized by the applet. However when I insert the card, it shows "Intersil PRISM2 11 Mbps Wireless Adapter".

I found out that flashing the new kernel onto the old rom results in the same behaviour. Doing it the other way around results in the Z hanging on boot.

Any help greatly appreciated

Chris

Similar problems here too. I got a C860 for someone and got them an Origo/Senao v2 wifi card. By editing the wlan-ng.conf file this prism 2 based card worked fine.

However in the new version of the Cacko the card is recognised out of the box and the led lights but we have been unable to get a connection.

We'd also really appreciate any advice on getting it working!

Cheers
Marc

Lost Addressbook entries!

I backed up " /home/Zaurus"  before flashing to 1.22 .  After flashing I copied over "/home/Zaurus" thinking it contained my addressbook entries, by the way I'm using the Sharp Adressbook.  When I bring up the addressbook, no entries.  Can anyone help?

Also,  I did perform a backup of the system using the "Backup/Restore" application before flashing.  Is there a way of pulling my addressbook file from this?

One more thing, I have an Ambicom WL1100C-CF wifi card and I saw the previous entries about the card being recognized but not connecting.  I'm having the same problem, what do I do to get a connection?

Thanks
