Does the Sharp media player hardlock for anyone else? I wanted to use that instead of kino, which is still buggy (but improving), but it hardlocked my Z twice in 2 hours
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=69093\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I use the Sharp media player + 860 extensively as an MP3 player (the remote makes the Z into one heck of a nice portable media player), and I don't think I've ever seen the Sharp media player lock the device in the 5 months I've been using it.

Are you playing off an SD or CF card? Is it a particular file that seems to do it?

Would it be possible to add ZIP and RAR support to the file browser? Not so that it'll browse the archives as directories (God I hate windows XP for doing that), but so that you can decompress them from the GUI. Same for for .tar.bz and .tar.gz archives.
Thanks smile.gif

No that will have to be a seprate program or an extantion to some third-party file browser, such as Qtree explorer or other. There is no way to update built-in file browser without having source code...

From an SD card. I don't think it's one particular track, but I have to make another long commute, and I'll try with a different set of MP3's of less dubious quality (own CD rips instead of a friend's).
We'll see.

    12. Flash will be repartioned and Zaurus will reboot.  (I couldn't get my Z to turn off after this reboot.  The prompt said 'Enter Runlevel'  and the On/Off switch of the Z was unresponsive.  I ended up pulling the battery to kill it.

Just holding the "OK"-button while rebooting (from the shutdown menu or console or flash menu) does the trick. (instead of pulling out and putting back batteries all the time).
I have read in these forums that the charging-circuit is the most fragile part of the Z, so I prefer leaving my battery where it should be.

Well, it seems to be just a particular file, I've tested it with 200MBs or varying tracks (left it playing all night) and it was fine in the morning. It just seems picky about what it will or won't play, as the track that crashed media player played fine in amarok at work and in foobar at home.

If you don;t like the screensaver applet, just disable it and foget it, everything works even without the screensaver
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=60530\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
I've just tried that, and it seems it reverts to the old screen-saver settings (like on the Sharp ROM). I like the configuration ability, I just don't want the damn thing in my tray all the time. I'll test it some more and report.
Edit: ah-HA! turning it off in the options instead of shutting off the applet works nicely, it seems
Also, that QA offer still stands: if you want me to test advance builds let me know.

There is a typo in the LUSscreensaver util config: it's ProCeSSes to disable suspend.

how hard would it be to get cacko going on a 6k?

EDIT: apparently much of the cacko feed will run on the 6k.  Maybe it would just be a matter of popping a version of the fast kernel in with the lite (since the 6k has only 64m) initrd on a cf?  or something along those lines?
 Thanks,
adf

The C860 has 64 megs as well. I think the only difference in hardware is the graphics controller I think.

You have time to write down a few pointers for me?
If I knew the following, I think this would be easy. (how often have you said..if I knew X this would be easy? lmao)

1). since you mention it, video drivers. How can I "pull" the  included sharp drivers for use in cacko..it is in ..libqpe? something like that? should I just "cut'n'paste in a few libs off the ole sharprom? Can fbdev be used? How much will that slow things? (the x11 roms or at least OZ/gpe use straight fbdev, don't they?)

2). (I can try this myself, but maybe not very effectively) how do I modify /tools and updater.sh to include a different kernel?

I'd be happy to (try to)build a sort of frankenrom that could be turned into a real, useable cacko6000.  It looks like guylhem is making progress on a "large nand partition, no stupid symlinks setup"  maybe a cackoized rom would be good w/ that?

Ok, unfortunately I am also experiencing a WIFI problem:

I use the D-LINK DCF-660W. After the Hotfix it is recognised well. But I cannot get a connection.

When not using DHCP:

The C860 tries to connect (LED flashing, "Start connecting" message) but finishes with a red connection symbol shortly folloews with the message "No connection detected. Check your WEB Key settings and/or TCP/IP settings"). The connection is then disconnected.

When using DHCP:

The C860 tries to connect (LED flashing, and animated connection plug) but stops without showing any further message.

I checked the WEP settings (also in config files), I read all threads and FAQs, I made numerous new flashes, tried it with patch and without patch but noting helps.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease help. :-(

BTW: Kismet works fine. And the problem persists regardless of the AP I try to connect to.

Where exactly is the option to turn off the screensaver?  I've never been able to kill mine, and yet never been able to get any good screensaver working (it's always just the floating time).  I tried deselecting that applet and all kinds of things.
