I wonder if we could get this working?

Might be interesting to get this to go with it...

Sharp ROMs / adduser with theKompany 1.0 rom?
« on: March 11, 2004, 02:02:31 pm »
Yes, there\'s no other way, since I haven\'t created any other users yet.  The bash prompt indicates that I\'m root, and a quick whoami also says so.

Is there another way to easily add users besides the adduser command?

Sharp ROMs / adduser with theKompany 1.0 rom?
« on: March 10, 2004, 11:55:38 pm »
I\'ve been trying to add myself as a regular user using the adduser command, but it errors out with this message:

Usage: adduser {OPTIONS} (user_name)

I\'ve tried adding a user in the following ways:

adduser tropic

adduser -s /bin/bash tropic

No luck.

Busybox is version 0.60.4.  Tinylogin is version 1.2.

Has anyone else run into this?  In the other roms I\'ve used this was never an issue.

TIA,

tropic

5x00 General discussions / PocketTop keyboard
« on: December 17, 2003, 10:38:39 pm »
I also have the Micro Innovations keyboard, and I have to say, while its OK, its not as great as I thought it would be.  The keyboard is pretty cramped to begin with, and the keys are not all the same size size.  There are no dedicated numeric keys, and the keys are angled in a way which I don\'t find helpful.  In addition, the stand doesn\'t really accomodate the Z in landscape mode (which is how you use it).  All in all I can\'t really type that much faster on the MI keyboard than with the thumb board.  Another thing.. you still have to use the stylus to tap things all the time, which really interupts the flow of typing.

Having said all that, I still use my MI keyboard all the time.  I just wish it were, you know... better.

Is anyone using the Targus keyboard?  It\'s not as small as the MI.  Maybe that\'s the way to go.

General Discussion / AOL webmail corrupts Opera 6?
« on: December 15, 2003, 08:35:48 pm »
I was surfing on my Z yesterday, and a friend looking over my shoulder asked me if he could use it to check his email.  Being a friendly type, I said sure.  Well, he has AOL webmail, which did something irreparable to Opera 6.  It plastered something across the top menu bar which I could not remove.  I tried shutting doen Opera and restarting it.  No luck.  Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Opera.  Still no joy.  Finally, used the IBM link to upgrade Opera 6 to Opera 7.  THAT finally did the trick.

The moral of the story... friends don\'t let friends use AOL.

General Discussion / How to set up a feed?
« on: December 15, 2003, 07:05:38 pm »
Thanks, those instructions are quite clear.  The only slight problem I ran into is that my web hosting company doesn\'t allow shell access to run the script, so instead I simply ran ipkg-make-index.sh in a directory on my home machine which contains the ipks I like, and then uploaded the Packages file and ipks to the web hosting company.

General Discussion / How to set up a feed?
« on: December 11, 2003, 07:23:40 pm »
I want to make a small feed of some apps I use on my Z, but when I try to do a network install of these apps, the Z doesn\'t see the IPKs and instead delivers an error message.

I can just use Opera to install the IPKs one by one, but is there some reason why my feed isn\'t working as a network install?

User Request for Applications / Citrix client
« on: December 11, 2003, 06:56:29 pm »
I downloaded and installed the NXClient, but as far as I can tell, it can only connect to an NXServer.  Unless I\'m missing something, you can\'t use it as a drop in replacement for the Citrix client.

User Request for Applications / Citrix client
« on: December 09, 2003, 10:20:22 am »
Several people attempted to get a Citrix client running on the Z, but to my knowlege, none were completely successful.  As of now, I\'m using my 5500 to VNC to my home machine which is running a Citrix client.  It\'s a kludge, but it works.

Do any of you smart people want to take another shot at getting the Citrix client to run native on the Z?

There\'s an ARM version available here

http://www.citrix.com/site/SS/downloads/de...loadID=3323#top

and there\'s a Java version here

http://www.citrix.com/site/SS/downloads/de...downloadID=3204

You would make a lot of people very happy if you solve this puzzle!
