How to set up a feed?
« on: December 11, 2003, 07:23:40 pm »
I want to make a small feed of some apps I use on my Z, but when I try to do a network install of these apps, the Z doesn\'t see the IPKs and instead delivers an error message.

I can just use Opera to install the IPKs one by one, but is there some reason why my feed isn\'t working as a network install?

Feed located here:

Lexar 256MB SD card
Lexar 128MB CF card
Linksys WCF12 802.11b card
Billionton CF LAN card (great in hotels)
Targus Pocket Modem 56k V.90 card
Micro Innovations Keyboard (thanks cwaig)
WriteRite screen protector for Sony Clie 615 (fits perfectly)
Palm Tungsten-T stylus (better than the original because it telescopes)

you basically need to download the ipkg-make-index.sh and put it in the same directory as your applications, then run the script with the correct syntax.  Check out these instructions for setting up a feed.

I have two feeds setup for the ZUG, one is a mirror of the docs.zaurus.com feed, and the other is a mirror of the cacko x11 feed.  I also have a personal feed setup with all the apps that I install regularly, included my purchased apps.  It\'s nice to have this setup, especially since I flash often and re-install the apps after every flash.  let me know if you need any further help.

I ditto that with the personal feeds.
I personally wget -r every feed I find.  I don\'t set up a mirror to keep up to date,
I just want to make sure nothing blinks away.

Thanks, those instructions are quite clear.  The only slight problem I ran into is that my web hosting company doesn\'t allow shell access to run the script, so instead I simply ran ipkg-make-index.sh in a directory on my home machine which contains the ipks I like, and then uploaded the Packages file and ipks to the web hosting company.
