Does upper/lower case make any difference on FAT16 partitions? On my desktop box I can\'t even rename the file because it would be the same.

Does NAND restore from an SD card work, too? I know someone with a 128MB SD-card and will try this tonight.

Cxx0 General discussions / NAND restore problem on C750
« on: June 03, 2004, 04:49:56 pm »
Hi,

I\'m trying to do a NAND restore of my C750 using an image from www.trisoft.de (a German distributor for Zaurii). I couldn\'t find an image elsewhere, some people refer to conics.net but their download page seems to be down.

I am following the \"usual\" procedure to get to the service menu, insert the card with the image on it and select \"NAND Flash Restore\". It then tells me \"SYSTC750.DBK: not exist file\" (sic). The card seems to be recognized, as without it, I get a different message (\"no strage\"). The file is on the card. I have also tried to format the card to see if the file system is not correct but it still does not work. The file is provided in a zip archive, so it should be complete. Also, this is exactly the card I have often used to flash both, my old 5500 and the C750 with OpenZaurus and pdaXrom, which always worked. What am I doing wrong?

Mirko

Zaurus - pdaXrom / mplayer?
« on: March 22, 2004, 04:37:06 pm »
Hi,

some time ago one of of the pdaxrom team guys (sashz?) said there will be a better mplayer version with vidix drivers . I\'ve tried the current version from the feed and with my encodings it seems worse than ever  - I cannot get it to play smoothly. Is there still room for improvement, or am I doing something wrong and this version should work perfectly?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Gimp file formats
« on: March 22, 2004, 04:25:18 pm »
Hi,

I\'ve installed the gimp, gimp-plugins and libgimp packages from the feed and gimp starts and works ok. But it doesn\'t seem to understand any file format other than its own XCF. The others did work the last time I tried. What must I do to be able to import jpeg and others?

Thanks,
Mirko

General Discussion / 4.4GB Compact Flash

I got my 2.2G Magicstor today and came across this problem of getting it out  of the Zaurus again (the first time I used some pressure, took it out of the Zaurus and then read the sign that reads \"Don\'t press surface!\" .

Here\'s a simple solution: add some adhesive tape (Scotch or Tesa will do) to both sides of the drive so you can pull it out. I think the 5500 Zaurus model also had some plastic sleeves which were meant for this.

Does anyone know if cameras still except such a card if it has multiple partitions on it (including ext2s)?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Bluetooth on X11

I\'m using a Socket card. It works and I have never heard that it doesn\'t for anyone in the forums. Also nice because it\'s as small as a regular cf card.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Uploading files with Konqueror
« on: January 01, 2004, 06:48:26 am »
Hi,

sorry because this is probably a bit off topic but I\'m having this problem using the konqueror that comes with the X11 rom and I cannot find out what version it is.

I\'m trying to upload files onto a site using http upload. The answer from the site states that the file type is not correct (it has to be a jpeg wich I AM trying to upload). Is there anything special I have to do (concerning mime types or something) to upload files? Or is this version of konqueror not able to use http upload?

Many thanks,
Mirko

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Evolution?
« on: December 13, 2003, 10:10:25 am »
Hi,

it has been suggested in several threads that there should be PIM applications for the X11 rom. Would it be possible and feasable to port Ximian Evolution? I\'m not an Evolution user yet but it appears to me this would kill several birds with one stone.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Mplayer on X11 Rom
« on: December 12, 2003, 05:17:05 am »
That\'s right, but -fs will not scale the image, just place it in the middle with a black margin. The params to actually scale the image seem to be too slow for the Z (although I thought it\'d be possible due to the faster processor compared to the 5500), thus my question if it is possible to change the resolution. I tried to look for some config file (XF86Config?) but didn\'t find anything familiar to me in the usual places (well usual for desktop linuxes).

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Mplayer on X11 Rom
« on: December 11, 2003, 06:12:25 pm »
Hi,

I was really curious about the X11 rom so I installed it today - great work! This opens a whole lot of new opportunities on the Zaurus.

My first concern with a new installation is always to get mplayer running . I have installed the version from the feed at cacko\'s site and it works ok. But I already have some movies encoded at 320x240 (for my now-sold 5500) and I\'m looking for a way to watch them fullscreen. Unfortunately, the -zoom (and also other) parameters seem to be too slow on the Z. I also tried to encode a movie at 640x480 at the same rate and mplayer is unable to play this reasonably smooth, too.

What can I do? Is there an mplayer option I overlooked? Is it possible to change the resolution of the X11 screen to 320x240 (and how)?

Thanks,
Mirko
