I too am now getting this message.  I do not have any fast loads enabled or a swap file on disk.   I get it with only two apps running at the same time.  This is very frustrating because I never had issues before, but when I enabled fast load for an app I started getting the memory warning.  Now, with fast load off, I still get them.  And more often!  Any ideas as to what may have happened or how to fix?

Sharp ROMs / Workaround (?) for Zynergy GUI installer?
« on: April 25, 2004, 03:48:11 pm »
Hi,
When I was using Zynergy I found that by keeping a card in the SD slot I was able to use the gui installer.  I installed from the CF to SD or internal.  It also installed to the SD with the right links and icons.

Couple of other problems I had, no resolution though so I gave up on the ROM.
1) irk never worked, couldn\'t get it too so my Pocketop was rendered useless (not good for me)
2) the pdf viewer did not show as installed, so when I tried to upgrade I couldn\'t uninstall the current to install the latest

just my 2 cents

I used the Zynergy rom quite effectively.  To use the gui install, I had to keep a SD card in the slot.  All was well while it was inserted, crashed if I tried to install with it out.  Who knows why, but I\'ve since switched.

User Request for Applications / Mod OPIE-Today to read DTM format
« on: April 14, 2004, 01:42:05 pm »
Here is another alternative.  KoPI has a working sync mechanism with DTM.  It can read from the DTM database, write to it, recognize differences, etc.  This developer is amazing, he has done all this within a few months (thekompany needs to hire him to fix their problems  ).  KoPI also has a Today like interface that reads the database and summarize upcoming events.

Well, I tried to look through the code to see if I could modify the current Today plug-ins to have the DTM capability.  But, I am not that smart and have had no luck.  Perhaps someone smarter than I can do it?

Windows Issues / Still trying to sync

I don\'t know.  I was able to get it to work doing that every time.  Can you transfer files via their software?  Is there any communication between the two at all?

Software / KOrganizer / KO/Pi (KOrganizer Platform independent)
« on: March 18, 2004, 09:29:06 pm »
Does anyone have a problem when they uninstall/ upgrade versions?  Whenever I uninstall then reinstall my fonts get all small and the colors go away.  Also, the buttons on the toolbar don\'t appear (they are there, just no icons).  When I try to reboot it just hangs on the splash screen.

This is how I do it:
1) uninstall
2) install upgraded version
3) funky display
4) reboot
5) hung z

anyone?

OK, that was a STUPID question.  Nevermind.

Does anyone know if the tkc roms have the workaround?

Well, I fixed the root problem.  It seems that with the Zynergy ROM the updated kernel just wouldn\'t be recognized.  I had to reflash/ reformat Sharp v1.32 and then update the kernel.  Too bad, now I remember why I didn\'t like Sharp all that much in the first place.  Man, is it ugly!  Know of any good appearance changes?  I\'m going to need to start another post for that!

This is the one I downloaded from the download section, said it was ver 1.3: zImage_Special5600_No_Preemptive_No_Overclock-c860ROMv1.10.  Rename to zImage.bin and put on CF with Sharp\'s updater.sh.  Same result as before.  Curiously, when I unzipped Sharp\'s package there was a file called mversion.bin.  Do I need to mess with this?  Nerver had to in the past.

5x00 General discussions / 5600 really worth the $$$ vs 5500?
« on: March 14, 2004, 08:52:45 pm »
My 2 cents:

1) Limited ROM support.  I would love to get OZ working on my 5600, but the builds just are not there yet.
2) Sharp\'s DTM format.  This means that a) I can\'t install and sync OPIE PIMs,  OPIE-Today will not work for me; c) most PIM development is done for the xml based format therefore I can\'t take advantage of the improvements.

I can live with it, but the lack of dtm compatible apps and inability to sync really limits my use.

Well, that seemed to do the trick, sorta.  I got the thing to appear to update (no progress dots, but it said it was updated and showed the Success! words).

However, now when I cat /proc/version it still says the old kernel info and yamade@yampc.  Thoughts?

Thanks

For those that were able to flash the newer kernerl, can you list what updater file you used?  I\'ve downloaded the zynergy version and tried to flash the kernel as both zImage and zImage.bin.  Another thing I noticed, when I download the kernel windows saves it as a bin file.  So I name it zImage, thinking that the full name is zImage.bin.  But the flash does not recognize the file.  Interestingly, when I unpack the zynergy file, the zImage has no extension.  Windows recognizes it as a file, vice a .bin.

Any help?

Windows Issues / Still trying to sync
« on: March 14, 2004, 02:39:58 pm »
This worked for me on win 2k to sync with outlook.

1) Uninstall everything from the windows desktop
2) Unplug the cradle
3) Make sure you use the uninstall program, then use windows Add/Remove software as well.  You\'ll also need to uninstall the USB driver from the Add/Remove program
4) Check the device manager, usb section, for the SL driver and delete it there also.

Reboot.

1) Run setup from the 5600 supplied CD, install required software.
2) Shutdown.
3) Plug in cradle.
4) Power up PC.
5) Wait til windows is up, put z in cradle, power on.
6) Install USB drivers.

Should now work.  Things that come to mind are version incompatibilities.  Make sure that you use the USB drivers for your rom ver.  They are not backwards compatible.

Good Luck!

What is it you\'re trying to do?  I am able to sync my Z (Sharp PIMs) with Outlook XP on Win 2k.
