Zaurus - Arch Linux ARM support / Wifi On Zalarm

Well, at least some progress. You can try a different open AP or try one with WPA2 AES/TKIP.

Do you get the same errors ?

Do you have maybe a MAC filter on the access point  enabled ?

Sorry for the late reply. Meanwhile I've purchased a USB-LAN adapter... and a powered USB HUB.

In next days I'll try different AP settings but I'm pretty sure there is no MAC filter enabled. :-)

Use Ubuntu and hostap-utils package or the attached hostap-utils for Arch Linux ARM.

No guarantee this will work, I just compiled it and did not test it at all.

Your hostap_utils worked on my Z like a charm :-)

Now my firmware is upgraded to 1.8.2 but i still can't connect to an open AP and scan doesn't find any network.

Same behavior as Ubuntu distro. I'm quite sure the card is working well because kismet on Ubuntu was finding networks.

EDIT1:Blacklisted again orinoco drivers and iwlist wlan0 scan now is working...

Use this mirror instead for find an older package from the time the roots was released.

Thanks Greg!

Which arm version of package i've to download? "arm" is the right one?

EDIT: "arm" version worked like a charm :-)

I've installed:

Code: [Select]
wireless_tools-30.pre9-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz
dhclient-4.3.5-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz
libnl-3.2.28-1-arm.pkg.tar.xz
hostapd-2.6-3-arm.pkg.tar.xz

Wifi card now get recognized

Zaurus - Arch Linux ARM support / Wifi On Zalarm
« on: May 11, 2017, 10:27:11 am »
Hi all!

I've recently installed ALARM on my C3000 previously running zUbuntu (and before pdaXrom). Good job!

I'm trying to connect to a wifi open network with my PRISM "AmbiCom WL1100C 802.11b CF-Card".

I think there is no wireless_tools and hostapd installed on alarm-zaurus-c3x00-minimal-rootfs-october2016. Isn't it?

I purchased a ethernet USB dongle but hasn't arrived yet.

Can I manually install required packages and dependencies?

You want to try this card on ArchLinuxARM. I can not guarantee it will work, but it may be worth the try. On Arch you need to blacklist orinico_cs otherwise hostap_cs will not load. Looking at your log you may want to try this too.

I'm giving a try to ALARM

orinoco_cs 0.15 (David Gibson , Pavel Roskin , et al)

The firmware is quite obsolete.. i'll try to upgrade.

EDIT: I'm tryin the upgrade and download the firmware but my zaurus doesn't have hostap-utils as described on omegamoon blog. :-(

Found here http://www.autistici.org/c0de/stuff/Debian-Zaurus.pdf that debian has some trouble with hostap and hostap_cs modules.

I'm trying to blacklist those modules...

now the device is seen as eth0

I'v done:

Code: [Select]
iwconfig eth0 essid "mywifi"
iwconfig eth0 enc off
iwconfig eth0 mode managed
iwconfig eth0 nick zaurus
iwconfig eth0 key off

Then dhclient eth0 but returns:

Code: [Select]
No support for INET on this system.
Can't create addrlist socket

Try changing the encryption protocol on the AP you're trying to connect to (WPA2, WPA, WEP and/or none) and see if it makes any difference. From what I have read, for some users the AmbiCom WL1100C supported WEP only, for others WPA too, it might depend on the revision of the firmware installed on the card.

Changed encryption to none but without success. WEP is not more available on AP.
Where i can find more info about revision compatibility?

Quote
Have you ever managed to successfully connect to a network in the past using that card? On the same AP, with the same, or different ROMs? Have you tried connecting to other APs, too?

As far i can remember network card was working well with my past rom (pdaXii may be?) and WEP connectivity.

Any hints?

Hi all,

i've a C-3000 running Zubuntu (kernel 2.6.26-omegamoon-spitz). I have some problem with WIFI card.

The device is a AmbiCom WL1100C 802.11b CF-Card 2.2

I can run kismet with

source=hostap,wlan0,wlan0

and kismet displays some ESSID including the one i try to connect using wpa_supplicant[i/].

I create wpa_supplicant.conf using wpa_passphrase command.

Then: wpa_supplicant -B -iwlan0 -c/etc/wpa_supplicant.conf -Dhostap

but i recive:
Code: [Select]
ioctl[PRISM2_IOCTL_PRISM2_PARAM]: Invalid argument
ioctl[PRISM2_IOCTL_PRISM2_PARAM]: Operation not supported
ioctl[PRISM2_IOCTL_HOSTAPD]: Invalid argument

Ubuntu / Installing On A 3200 Microdrive?

What changes do I need to make to /etc/fstab to account for booting from a microdrive and/or having swap on the microdrive?
Or better yet... does someone have a sample fstab from a 3200 (or similar) that's running Zubuntu from the microdrive?

thanks,
Christopher.

I'm trying to copy the installation on the microdrive.. then i will check the fstab ...

i think only that you have to put /dev/hdaX (where x is the partition number) .. in the /etc/fstab mounted as /

i will update my post when copy will end

This is the fstab actually:

Code: [Select]
# don't mount /dev/mtdblock2 since Spitz uses pivot_root
# or 2.6 directly boots from the hdd
# /dev/mtdblock2     /            jffs2   rw,noatime              1  1

usbfs           /proc/bus/usb   usbfs           noauto                0  0

#
# Harddisk
#
#/dev/hda2           /home           ext3    defaults    0  0
#/dev/hda3           /media/hdd      vfat    defaults    0  0

everything seems to work... just made a copy of the fs from the sd to the microdrive partition

"invalid skb->cb magic (0x00000000, expected 0xf08a36a2)"

dove sbaglio !?!?!?
