Zaurus - pdaXrom / Debian On Pdaxrom

Hi Guys,

Is there anyway to boot from pdaxrom, stay in text mode, chroot to debian and start a debian's Windows manager like icewm, or wmaker ?
As we can do under X-QT.

Hi guys,

On Debian, installing synaptic (GUI) pkg manager instead of aptitude.
On Debian, installing geg (gnuplot like)
On Debian, trying Blender, Celestia, gdis ..... But need libGLU.so.1, need GLX extension xlib. But It looks like it is a dream because Zaurus ATI GC seems not be able to use OpenGL.

did anybody know how fake-gl works ?

Hi guys,

Yesterday I succeed to install KDE. But I rebooted my Zaurus, by removing the battery, and it hangs.
So I have to reflash with pdaXrom and reinstall debian again.
But KDE Works.

in fact, just type :
#apt-get install kdebase (instead of kde)
after it depends what you want to do, you can install
kdemultimedia
koffice.....

Hi all,

Glad to announce you, all is going very well.

I enjoy this way of using my zaurus.

#Crd dillo => give me old Debian version of dillo 0.7.x
#dillo       => give me PdaXrom Version 0.8.x

This proof of using debian or not.

Somewhere on the net, I found a way to install kde, but I can't remember where.
because it seems to me that apt-get install kde give me an error message.

PS : Just read your message Randolph, You don't need to start Fbvnc.
just open an aterm
#/etc/rc.d/init.d/zdebian start
# Crd <debian apps> (see above)
or
#chroot /mnt/card (where you untar your debian tgz) and after you have change your root to the debian.

Did you succeed on installing a debian chroot on SDcard under PdaXrom ?
If yes, please could you tell me how ? Did you follow all procedure from pocketstation.org except notes for fbvnc and zvncserver ?

X/Qt / Debian with Xqt

Hi MSC Geek,

Thanks a lot with your help.

I do vi /home/root/.icewm/preferences
uncomment and change all lines with ....FontNameXft = "........:size=10:..." to size 1 and it works.

By the same way, after changing all size to 1, I do

:1,$s/:size=1/:size=.5/g

It means search from line 1 to end string ":size=1" and replace by ":size=.5"
Maybe can replace directly but you can find some FontName with size=10 or size=12....

I think for Mozilla and others programs maybe we could try where fontname for Xft are declared.

X/Qt / Debian with Xqt

Hi all,

I am trying to install Mozilla, Nautilus, but font is bigger in menu and I dont know how to make them smaller.
Same thing when I upgrade Debian, my IceWm taskbar becomes big.

anyone find an issue for this ?

Hi,

Just bought it !!!
install zdebian, and gnome 700 Mo, wait for finishing download and install.

It seems to work.

I tried 512 Mo, worked for all days I got it, sold it to a friend, and bought 1Go just for installing gnome under debian.

I will post later after testing gnome under debian. for the moment, no badblocks, all install seems correct.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / XQT on OZ 3.5.1 / C7x0-C860

Hi,

I succeed in installing Xqt on OZ 3.5.1 but, the keymap seems to be wrong.

For example, it is not possible to have the "+" sign even if fn key is pressed, the "/" sign even if shift key is pressed, ..... and so on.

Please anybody find an issue for this ?

Have you ever tested the subtitle ?

mplayer -vobsub subtitle_file movie_file

warning : you must have subtitle_file.idx and subtitle_file.sub in the same directory.

Of course you can use all parameters (for fullscreen) talking above on this thread.
