What reads the error message?

What happens when you hit sync button on the cradle?
Nothing happens at all when I hit the sync button on the cradle.  I have to manually click on "IntelliSync" in windows.  The error messages is rather long....I'll try it again and jot it down so that I can post it.

[edit]
An error occurred while trying to connect to the zaurus

Please remove the zaurus from the cradle or serial cable and reconnect.
Wait approximately 30 seconds.....blah blah blah

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Openzaurus And Intellisync 1.43e

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I'd just ask in this one.

I just flashed OpenZaurus 3.5.2 on my SL-5600 (first time OZ user)...Everything looks good, even my wifi cf card worked right out of the box; however I can't seem to sync.  My issue doesn't appear to be a version mismatch or anything else that I've found threads on here.

I can ping and ssh to my z from my wife's winxp box...the box is 192.168.129.1 and the z is 192.168.129.2.  I've made sure that the Zaurus Manager has USB - TCP/IP selected and the settings are correct but when I try "Start->Programs->Sharp Zaurus->Intellisync" it just sits at "Processing Records" for a while and then errors out as if it can't see the Z at all.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Linux Applications / userland source code?
« on: November 03, 2004, 08:41:07 am »
I'm using Zynergy; which to my understanding is half sharp rom and half custom.  However, I believe the "security" app in question is part of the sharp rom, and from what you've said that means it's closed source.

Hmm....I'll have to write my own from scratch then

Linux Applications / userland source code?
« on: November 02, 2004, 11:24:24 pm »
I've been searching for several hours now but I can't seem to find the source code to one of the apps on my 5600.  Maybe it's silly of me to just assume that it's open source.  So the question is does anyone know if and where userland apps for the 5600 can be found.

Specifically I'm looking for the code to the "security" app found in /home/QtPalmtop/bin.  Basically I want to change the keypad that comes up on boot.

Thanks,
Jimi

5x00 Hardware / Power button works once?
« on: July 06, 2004, 04:03:23 pm »
Well tumnus I think you were right (read: THANKS).  I uninstalled everything except mplayer and one or two things I knew for sure weren't an issue.  Sure enough the damn thing works fine just like before.  The battery still holds a wicked long charge and it turns on and off just fine.

Thanks again!

Now if I could only get a version of pdaXrom.org's ROM for the 5600 I'd be an even happier man!

5x00 Hardware / Power button works once?

That's a good question....see the problem is I was using it pretty regularly and then it sat at home for two or three weeks.  So honestly I don't remember what I installed last.  However as soon as I get home I'll take a looksy (haven't been bringing it to work anymore since it has this issue and it bugs me).

If it's not obvious to me what might be doing it then I'll probably just uninstall everything, maybe even re-flash it with the Sharp rom again and see what happens.  I'll post an update when I've done it.

Turns out it's not the battery; although I still need help.  See here for more.

5x00 Hardware / Power button works once?
« on: June 30, 2004, 05:31:54 pm »
Hmm...being that this is the "Everything 5x00" forum I thought it would be obvious I have either a 5500 or 5600.

I have the SL-5600 with the Sharp Rom (updated).

Anyone else?

Please help....

At first I thought I had a bad battery:  See Topic Here

But then after doing some experimenting it turns out that I can turn on my Z but as soon as I turn it off (with a full batery) I can't turn it back on.  I have to switch the back button to "Replace Battery" and then back to "Normal Operation"....then I can turn it back on....note that when it comes back on the battery is still indicating a full charge.  So I've ruled out the battery.

Any ideas???

5x00 Hardware / Battery doesn't hold a charge

Well Sharp got back to me....it does have a warranty but it's only 90 days....so I'm SOL....bummer.  Anyone know of a good place to buy batteries?

No I don't have bluetooth with this model.  I've used it fine for the longest time (well since Sept anyway).  Then last week it didn't turn on...I could have sworn I charged it...so I charged it again...it turned on and worked fine.

However the very next day it didn't turn on again (and this time I was 100% sure I had just charged it).  I've got an email into Sharp asking them the same question.  I'd hate to spend $60-80 on a new battery if it's covered under a warranty.

I have an SL-5600...I bought it Sept 2003 and it looks like the battery is not holding a charge anymore.  Does the battery come with a warranty or just the unit itself.

Thanks.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / X11 ROM on 5600?
« on: January 28, 2004, 11:50:15 am »
Fyi, I sent an email to cacko.biz and the response I got was it doesn\'t currently support the 5600 but the new X11 ROM will (I\'m guessing by that they meant a rev coming up in the future).

Zaurus - pdaXrom / X11 ROM on 5600?
« on: January 27, 2004, 09:52:59 pm »
Thanks.  So far I haven\'t tried any ROM at all (just the default Sharp ROM that came with the unit)....don\'t really see the point of going to another ROM unless it gives me a LOT more.  With an X11 ROM I can definitely see that being the case.

Oh well I\'ll have to keep my eye out.
