General Discussion / call to arms
« on: March 09, 2004, 09:12:40 am »
I would love to help too.  I have a linux machine set up and ready to go for whatever is needed.  I don\'t have the programming skills either, but I could do cross-compilation/migration of apps, etc. if someone wanted to give me the rundown on how to do it.

I would love to know if anything comes out of your PCMCIA experiment.  Keep us posted!

That\'s definitely an idea.  Do you think there would be a way to focus that signal near the zaurus through a cable?  e.g.  have an antenna on the roof of a car, out on a patio, etc. then have the cable focus the signal close to the Zaurus.

That would be pretty nice.

Yep, I was guest.  On my buddy\'s computer.  Anyways, I couldn\'t resist picking up an AP today, so now I have one.  However, I still want to try and pick up long-range, or rather longer-range signals with my Z.

That part, I get.  The question I have is how do I interface it with a CF wireless card that has no pigtail connector.  Most CF cards don\'t, including my WCF12, so I was wondering how I can transmit the signal from a cantenna or similar item to my wireless card.

I\'ve searched all over and can\'t find any answers.

Cool, thanks.  Once I get my Z up and running again (stupid mistake when reflashing, and I don\'t have a CF reader!) I\'ll give that package a try.

That\'s what I thought, I just wanted to make sure.

This may be a dumb question, but hey, I\'m new.

If I were to switch to the tkc ROM or perhaps OZ, would I still be able to take advantage of the ROMs in the ZUG download area?

Checking out the other ROMs would be fun, but I want to have the preemptive kernel and the PX250 workaround so that everything runs a bit faster.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / fdisk

I tried that, but no dice.  It links to the zaurus dev website, but the same file is found on ZUG\'s feed.

Here\'s the error I get when I try installing it at the command line with ipkg:

zcat: stdin: unexpected end of file
ERROR unpacking controltar.gz from /fdisk_2.11g-4_2_arm.ipk

I get a similar error when trying to install libncurses:

zcat: stdin: unexpected end of file
ipkg_install_file: ERROR unpacking control.tar.gz from ./libncurses5_5.0-6.potato1_arm.ipk

BTW, I\'m using the 5600 1.32 ROM with the preemptive patch  (no overclock)

I\'m trying to install fdisk for my 5600.

I tried pulling it from the ZUG feed, but it won\'t install properly. The add/remove software module won\'t recognize the .ipk file, and using ipkg from the command line gives me an error too.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what\'s going on?  How about a copy of the .ipk that you have installed to your Z.

Thanks!
