5x00 Hardware / Modifying Zaurus Cradle

Greetings,

I seem to recall that there is a possibility to modify the cradle for the 5500 to also charge the zaurus on the USB connector only. Can anyone verify this? If so, I could use directions to the appropriate website, I cannot seem to find it.

Did notice that the IR port also still activates when I use my bluetooth connection. I can turn it off again, but I'd rather have it not activate when I make a bluetooth connection.

Anyone with any ideas?

Hi!

I do not know if your idea will work, but I also have a nokia 6310i, and yesterday I recieved my socket revF bluetooth card. I already owned a BT200 headset, so I will also go and try what you're suggesting. Haven't come accross the dropping of the connection yet.

Huzzay! I recieved my Socket rev.F Bluetooth card yesterday, and am now running my connection via bluetooth! (Still using SL5500 and Nokia 6310i).

Needed to install all packages for bluez and suspend/resume issues.

...But it works!

I had some luck running gameboy emu's gnuboy and an other one whom's name just slipped my mind. libraries are your friend, I agree with nailbunny. None of em did work before installing lib's.

I have a Nokia 6310i and am using my Z 5500 for browsing and email and IM. unfortunately at the moment only via IR, and not (yet) by bluetooth connection.

5x00 Hardware / USB Sync cable HOWTO

Okay, thanks! it seems that my usb port is holding, so that seems to function okay.
an other problem i ran into is that my  zaurus will not switch on. If i connect the usb while the zaurus is on everything works fine, but if i connect first and then  try to switch on, it does not work. USB 5volt + is connected to 1 and 2 and VCC of sharp plug. Any idea's?

Hi, I made a cable but also connected pins 1 and 2 onto the red wire and 15 and 16 on the black one. (for charging pusposes.)

I have a SL5500.

Can you tell me why you didn't connect those, and does it charge on the RED on 10?

Netherlands / Usb Kabel

Hallo,

Ik heb zelf wat stekkers besteld voor de seriele poort onderop de SL5500, en heb daar een USB kabel voor gemaakt. Deze doet het prima, en laad ook mijn Z op, maar ik heb er 1 probleempje mee. Ik kan het scherm niet aanzetten als de kabel in een PC poort zit.

Kent iemand dit probleem?

Hier nog een Zaurus gebruiker, al een tijdje, maar ach.
Ik ben een blije bezitter van een 5500. (Rom 3.10)

Zijn er hier nog meer mensen met een 5500?
Zo ja, iemand ervaring met:

Bluetooth
Installeren van een andere ROM

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / OZ or not OZ

Greetings all,

I am currently running the Sharp US rom version 3.10, and I\'ve been thinking to switch over to OZ. (I have a SL-5500D, with 128mb sd and 64mb cf). Currently I am using the IR port and my nokia 6310i to recieve my e-mail. I am a bit reluctant to switch to OZ, because my Z is the only working computer I have at the moment. (My wife occasionally allows me to use my cradle USB on her computer to store some files to/from my Z  :wink: ). So my question actually boils down to:

Why not switch to OZ?
