Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kdepimpi For Rc12 On 3100

Do you have pwmanager compiled? I juggle a million passwords and I dont feel safe keeping them unencrypted in the address book.

If the pwmanager angle doesn't work out, try PortaBase which can be found in the feed. I keep my passwords in a PortaBase database. PortaBase is also available for Windows, which is good.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Working Xchat, Anyone?
« on: November 09, 2005, 02:41:33 pm »
The xchat 2.4.5 in the feed is somewhat dysfunctional. It can connect to a server, but basically eveything else incoming is labeled GARBAGE. Does anyone have a working copy?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Xfce4 Finetuning
« on: October 31, 2005, 10:36:09 am »
I flashed RC12 Saturday and decided to give XFCE4 a go as well. So far I have visually liked it (with ROX pinboard and all), but the autohide gives me headache. I really like the option of hiding the panel, but do you know if it is any way possible to get the panel unhide via the keyboard (with the Menu button or something)?

I'd like to have the panel on the bottom with autohide, but if I do it I can't get it unhidden with the mouse (since the pointer doesn't go low enough). Right now I have it on the right edge, but that's not optimal for me.

Alternatively I'd like a plugin that I can use to hide/unhide the panel. So far I haven't found any hints from the XFCE FAQs or wikis.

BTW, is is possible to unmount a volume with the panel mntplugin?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Cryptoloop Modules

Another interesting cross-platform cryptothing would be TrueCrypt (http://sourceforge.net/projects/truecrypt). Anyone willing to compile?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom Rc11 For Pxa Devices

I am trying to flash RC11 from RC9. However, the screen goes blank after I confimed
that I want to reflash.

Well, the problem isn't skipping RC10, since I also flashed directly from RC9 to RC11 and I had no problems. Are you sure the downloaded file was OK?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Xmms Keeps On Hanging In Rc11...
« on: September 29, 2005, 12:52:42 pm »
The xmms still keeps hanging in rc11, despite using the "disable suspend" option. I flashed rc11 yesterday and today my Zaurus froze totally while biking to work and listening to music. In addition to the "disable suspend", I had also unwisely selected the "blank screen" option, so when I lost all sound, my Zaurus was both showing blank screen and was totally unresponsive to all keypresses. So I had no practical way to see what was going on or even if my Zaurus was alive or not. Any hints I could do apart from rebooting by removing the battery?

I'm really   about this. I really don't care about various kernel tweaks but I'd really like to have applications that actually work in quite typical usage scenarios.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Xmms Freeze

The only way to get rid of the problem is to reboot the Zaurus. (restarting X doesn't work)

If you have access to a command prompt, have you tried to kill esd/esound? I have found it sometimes helps to remedy the situation. Unfortunately that is only in few cases, most of the xmms freezes cause GUI to be totally unresponsive, so no chance to kill esd.

Hmm, would it work to have one of the silk screen buttons to kill the daemon or would the buttons be unresponsive as well? That's a thought...

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Zaurus Ui Freezes If Suspended Too Long
« on: April 06, 2005, 02:44:16 pm »
I also edited apm as per the instructions above and haven't had any
suspend-related problems since.

However, I still get UI lockups after a long period (like half an hour
or so) of xmms music playback.

General Discussion / More Choice In Linux Based Pdas And Smartphones
« on: March 20, 2005, 04:27:39 pm »
Give me a well integrated Linux smartphone in Nokia 9300 form factor and I'll buy it ASAP. I don't need a camera etc, but I want the keyboard in a format that I can actually hold in my hand while talking. The prototypes in the first post are sadly lacking in the usability front.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / 1.05 Vs Rc9 :)

Actually, RC9 is as stable as the default ROM

While I think pdaXrom is really cool, the original ROM and Cacko ROM are much more stable still. In RC9 I get frequently GUI freezes that require either hard boot (i.e. remove battery etc) or a login from network to solve. At some point I got a freeze on three days in a row, which got REALLY annoying.

Darn, just my luck that the pdaXrom site is now in the process of moving and the unstable feed is not available. 8(

Sharp ROMs / Symbol Spectrum24 Wifi Card On 5500 Cacko

OK I have a brand new Spectrum 24 card.
When I insert it, there is no globe on the taskbar, just the normal CF memory card Icon.

Hmm, I also have the same card (although >1yr old) and it used to work just fine with my Cacko ROM.  Even kismet/wellenreiter worked.

However, I can't check my setup, since I'm running pdaXrom right now.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kdepim 2.0.12 (ko/ka/pi) For Rc9.1?

Newer version can be found in pdaXrom unstable feed.

Ehh? http://www.pdaxrom.org/unstable/ shows only kdepim version 2.0.1, which is not 2.0.12.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Software Request: Wavemon
« on: February 18, 2005, 03:10:37 pm »
That's interesting... I've done warwalking with my Symbol Spectrum 24, CackoROM and Kismet with no problems whatsoever. I haven't tried it after switching to pdaX, though.

Although I'm a bit disappointed that the issues with Symbol & B/G networks do not seem to be fixed in pdaX drivers. My connectivity at home (b net) is fine, but at work (joint b/g) it is nearly non-existant. This was fixed on the Windows side by a driver upgrade.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Zaurus Ui Freezes If Suspended Too Long

The hint behind that link may solve Wifi issues, but I have been hit with the problem without a wifi card in the slot. Maybe there are two separate issues here?
