Sharp ROMs / How to install the new Socket WiFi driver?
« on: April 03, 2004, 10:06:55 pm »
Went to Fry\'s today and bought a Socket CF Card, yep the Agere kind.
Shoulda\' made notes on the difference in the two cards\' appearance.
(You know, maybe d/l the photos from socketcom and had them on hand while shopping.  That _was_ one of the reasons for buying the Z in the first place.)

The old Socket card looks just like the Symbol CF card, by the way, just different labeling.
To add insult to injury, I learned (too late) that Costco sells the SanDisk 256 MB SD card for USD65 compared to Fry\'s USD80.  Bleah!

The one bright spot was the Panasonic RC-HP50 noise-cancelling earbuds.
They do nicely at suppressing \'steady\' noise like fans, not as well with my daughter\'s music.  The noise cancelling circuitry housing has a volume control along with the power switch.  That makes adjusting the volume _much_ more convenient.

There you have it.  Purchase in haste, repent at your leisure.

P.S.

If Agere drivers ever come to fruition, I\'d be grateful.

General Discussion / Rebooting while in cradle
« on: March 31, 2004, 06:56:52 pm »
I have a small problem wherein the Z reboots sometimes when I drag & drop files from a folder into the Zaurus File Transfer app.  I think it happens when I try to drag another file into the file trans app too quickly.  Anyone else experienced this?  Anyone know why the GUI go crash, boom, bang?

TNX

The laptop is running W2K Pro, btw.
Other end as in sig below

Nice, but kinda \'spensive.
A widget to project  a \'virtual\' keyboard
on to a writing surface would be my ideal.

General Discussion / OMG!!!!!!! US 6000
« on: March 23, 2004, 04:35:04 pm »
This is perfect timing for me.
I haven\'t even received my 5600 yet.
But that\'s okay given my demonstrated uptake cycle.
By the time I\'m ready for a 6000, they\'ll be goin\' on the
cut corner rack like the 5600\'s are now.  MWAHAHA,
my plan is working perfectly!

Bought my TRS-80 Model I the week Rat Shack dropped the price.
Bought my C-64 the week it dropped from $399 to $199.
Almost all my ham gear was bought second-hand.

Mike Myers brought you Fat Bastard.  Ladies & Gents I present to you . .
Cheap Bastard!!

Best Regards,
George

In the lower right hand corner of the page, you\'re invited to \'test-drive\' the new page.
That links to the zsi2 address.

General Discussion / It\'s in the mail (I hope)
« on: March 20, 2004, 05:09:45 pm »
I bought an SL5600 (with the cf camera) from auctionguy100 on EBay last Wednesday evening.  Put the cashier\'s check in the mail on Thursday.  This will replace a USR(!) Palm Pilot I have had since \'97.  I have been watching prices for a year I guess.  When it dropped below $300, I started paying more attention.  Long story short, when you figure in fiddle factor I probably paid Amazon price.
I\'ll probably leave the innards alone for a little while at least.
First thing is to get my Lotus Notes calendar synced with the PDA.  I understand that Notessync isn\'t there yet for the 5600.  What the heck is the \"DTK\" format and why did that replace XML?

Thanks!
