Windows Issues / Would Somebody Post Sp2 Firewall Setups?
« on: December 14, 2004, 02:28:26 pm »
I've got a 5500 that I cannot get to connect via USB-TCP/IP.  I can get it to connect via USB-I/O.  I can get it to work via TCP/IP on my home computer (XP Home SP1), but not on my work PC (XP Pro SP2).  It used to work fine until I upgraded to SP2.  I've got the firewall disabled, I've got all Zaurus apps set as exceptions, I've got the firewall disabled at each connection, and all services enabled on each one of those connections.  In other words, even if the firewall were enabled, it wouldn't (in theory) be doing anything.

Yet I still cannot connect.  Therefore, if any of you are using SP2 and have your 5500 or 5600 synching correctly via USB-TCP/IP, please post your Windows Firewall setting (network settings would probably help too).

Thank you.

Sharp ROMs / SP2 -> can't communicate
« on: October 05, 2004, 01:50:20 pm »
I had to upgrade my work PC to WinXP SP2 - no choice here - and now I cannot sync to Qtopia Desktop at all.  I have disabled all of the WinXP firewall functions, and even added all of the Zaurus application as "allowed" applications in the firewall (even though the firewall is disabled).  I can ping my 5500, but none of the applications will communicate.  When I try to FTP or synch to Qtopia, I get the sync screen on the Z, but it won't connect.

When I connect it to my home PC with WinXP (pre-SP2) it works fine.  I'm using the same settings on both PC on both sides.

FWIW, I'm using the USB - TCP/IP (advanced) settings with the same IP address in both the Z and the Zaurus Manager software (the default IP).  I've got the 3.10 Sharp ROM and the latest desktop software from the Sharp site (fresh re-install).

Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can try to get my communications back?

Why wasn't the Sharp ROM ok for your needs?
The Sharp ROM (Intellisync more specifically) does not support Outlook 2003.
