pdaXrom.jp feed is available at:
http://pdaxrom.sourceforge.jp/feed/
It has uim, which should be able to input Korean and Chinese(I've never tried to do that).

Hope this helps all the Korean and Chinese users out there.
We also have wiki at http://pdaxrom.sourceforge.jp/ about pdaXrom
information in Japanese.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Japanese Support/input Method

I installed the following packages:

http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jabbath/rc5/ja....1_armv5tel.ipk
http://zaurus.spy.org/feeds/jabbath/rc5/im....2_armv5tel.ipk

All I can get to work is Abiword displaying a japanese UTF-8 file I made on my windows machine.

I started im-ja-xim-server, but nothing seems to happen.  I edited its preferences to assign a key to switch input mode to hira/kata/english letters but I can only type english letters.  Actually, I would rather use something a little lighter than Abiword--something like scite, but I can't even switch to japanese fonts with that editor.

If you are able to read Japanese characters,
[a href=\"http://pdaxrom.sourceforge.jp/wiki/]http://pdaxrom.sourceforge.jp/wiki/[/url]
has detailed information about Japanization of pdaXrom.

We also have Japanized-from-installation image of RC8.
see http://sourceforge.jp/projects/pdaxrom/files/

If you need further assistance, you can PM me, and I'll tell you my ICQ or MSN, whichever is convenient.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Debian On Pdaxrom
« on: December 29, 2004, 08:28:16 am »
Hi.
I installed Debian on my SD par your instructions, but when I start Fbvnc, the Icewm is rotated 90 degrees to right.
Am I missing something here?

Also, I have trouble exiting Fbvnc... Logout and shutdown both didn't work.
btw Fbvnc seems to work inside pdaXrom desktop

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Kathrin RC8 Is Out..
« on: December 27, 2004, 06:54:53 pm »
Hi!
I'm enjoying the new release emmercely, but I noticed that when I use the screen blank icon(on right side of taskbar), my remote control(CE-RH1) stopped to act with xmms.
When I close my zaurus and elapse the system's "Screen off after" time, I can use the remote, so maybe the remote control input is disabled when the screen is blanked with the icon.

Also, my friend told me that he had problem mounting 45MB root partition on his C750, so he's using the kernel for C760. If anyone has clue about this, I'd be grateful.

thanks for your time.

C1000/3x00 General discussions / Full Debian On The Sl-c3000
« on: December 20, 2004, 02:59:53 am »
Hi.

I put Japanese translation of HOWTO on my blog, and naorou(the guy who made the hacked fbvnc) told me that to easily test the installation(without formatting with ext3 and stuff), you can just make a loopback device on /dev/hdc3, and mount it at /hdd3/debroot.

just do something like
 # dd if=/dev/zero of=/hdd3/lopback bs=1M count=1024 (this makes 1GB file)
 # /sbin/mke2fs loopback
 # mount -o loop -t ext2 loopback /hdd3/debroot
and install the debian files there.

just his two cents.
naorou himself has Vine installed on his Z

cheers.

OK I'm sparing my old Libretto for pdaXrom-x86
but hey... what are the requirements? will it run on my old MMX Pentium-driven note PC?

well sorry to bug you, and I know that you guys will put it on the site or something when release arrives, so this is only a time-killing question

anyway, you guys are making zaurus go where no PDA has gone before.
keep up the great work!
#when RC6 is out, I'll try to sneak in xsystem3.5 or onscripter... hehe

oh, and I too think having a ML is good thing™ too.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Most important missing/to be fixed in pdaXrom?
« on: December 06, 2004, 03:37:05 am »
how about adding K14 font and internationalized rxvt (or the like) so we can view Japanese fonts out-of-box...

I'm tired of getting them from X/Qt and installing and those stuff

I hope you can wait until then - if not feel free to donate or click banners while you waiting..
so we should anxiously hit the ad banners when we reload

seriously, I agree with Zumi.
It was very nice of you to let us know about next release date, but it shouldn't tie you up like this.

An alternative (not for the weekend thing, rather for the long releasing periods and the many unpatient user): Make a CVS or something alike, then everybody can check out the stuff if one is really eager to use it.
Having a CVS would be nice, so we can live on the bleeding edge if we would like to, but it's not a strong MUST, as everyone does not have a spare C760
#I don't, and it's not something you can make off the shelf, like a PC.

Anyway, you guys are doing a great work.
Thank you.
