Windows Issues / Synch with LAN
« on: June 09, 2004, 08:16:40 am »
I post this because it can be helpful to someone.

Please don\'t blame my english !

First at all: the configuration

Zaurus SL5500 with Sharp ROM 3.13
ext2 256Mb SD from Integral (Toshiba)
vfat 1Gb IBM Microdrive
Hamlet  HCF450 10 Mb eth

The problem:

synch with usb (tcp/ip mode) and QtopiaDesktop in W2k is fine, but is slow and sometimes don\'t work at all

so I tried to:
- disabling virtual lan cards made by vmware
- changing the default adress of the device from 192.168.129.201 to 192.168.130.201 (in PCLink on the Z and in Zaurus Manager on W2K)
- imposing to the NDIS5 interface in W2k the adress 192.168.130.1

after that it worked quite all times, when in the usb cradle.

Having the eth CF, I added the Z in the LAN and telnet and VNC to Z

but unfortunatly synch would not work, when you try it from QTDesktop, after an initial shot it gives an error

So, I resolved in this way :

I have static adresses in all my LAN, so I would\'n use dhcp

- in Z, configured LAN TCP/IP interface with the same adress of USB: 192.168.130.201
- in PCLink (on z) the adress is unchanged from before (so: 192.168.130.201)
- in Zaurus Manager (on W2k) the adress remains unchanged (so: 192.168.130.201)
- in Network and Dial-Up connections (on W2K) I added to the existing LAN connection another adress: 192.168.130.1 after that w2k complains that this adress is already used by NDIS5 interface, but if you don\'t use usb any more with this computer, you can\'t have problems

it seems that in synching Z uses automatically the same adress of usb but with .1 at the end to send data, so everytime you use a different media for lan connection (eth, wifi, bt, ir) give always to the adapter used for synch in the Win computer the same adress of the Z usb but with .1 at the end.

Good Z to everyone
