great thanks! it's working!

but it's little bit too late though =) i already gave up on a backup (not that big a deal though since now that i have done all the modifications i know what and how, shouldn't take me too much time to do everything again from a fresh install) and did a format from the power+ok menu. but that didn't give me back the ability to enter the maintance menu . just a moment ago i thought the zaurus might not be responding to the keyboard anymore, but pressing a+b+reset worked like a charm, so that's not it. i still need to get back into the maintance menu to restore the US nand backup to the zaurus. do they have a secret key combo for that too? a+r+reset?

did some more ersearch into my problem...

isn't there a way to use dd to make a full NAND backup which can be used to to flash the zaurus via the maintanance/service menus? i know you can back up each partition with dd, but not sure if the same can be done for the whole NAND.

yup, me again...

after installing all kinds of shit (including getting jap handwriting and proper keycode.tbl) i thought i'd make a nand backup of my zaurus (sl-6000l with jap stock rom) in case something happens.
i do the usual stuff, sticking something small and pointy into the reset hole, hold down m+d and then press the power button and all the time keeping m+d pressed. nothing happens.... the zaurus does it's normal boot routine.
i open up a console type reboot and hold down d+m right away, nothing happens, doesn't even reboot. but the mail led keeps flashing.
unlocked the battery, press m+d keys, relock battery, press power button.... normal boot routine...
all this with and without AC adapter, no difference.
i can get to the normal service menu by holding down power and ok. but you can't backup from there.

any suggestions?

Thanks for the info, i saw his keycode.tbl file, but it's the jap version so it was of no use to me. I flashed the US NAND backup from drwowe yesterday and copied the file in the end. everything is working fine now... thanks anyways.

hi,

I am in need of a file (keycode.tbl) that's found on US versions of SL-6000 in /home/QtPalmtop/etc, if someone can give that to me, it would save me from doing another NAND backup/restore.

Thanks...

i flashed the nand (but made a backup of the current condition first) and it all worked fine. japanese rom running fine, except that the keyboard layout is messed up, which doesn't really matter coz i only flashed to get to the files i needed. but i decided to keep the jap rom because i deleted my nand backup with the US image *doh*. but now i need the keycode.tbl for the US version. if you have that for me, it would be appreciated =)

well, so much for tinkering...

i remember about more than a year ago i managed to extract the japanese handwriting files from a C series zaurus (which didn't work on the SL-6000) which was in a cramfs image.  but things are rusty these days (old age catching up probably) and i can't manage to extract anything from the above nand backup file. i used a extraction script i found via google cache on a forum from the site where i got the file above (http://externe.net/zaurus). edited it to work with SL6000 (partitions 7, 25 and 32mb) but none of the files worked.

i know i can use the above file to flash the whole zaurus, but i only want to do that as a last resort.

So if someone can help me out and explain how i can extract files from the above nand backup i would be eternally grateful.

hi,

i've ben trying to get japanese handwriting to work on my US SL6000. Using the input files from older models doesn't work. I can't seem to find any japanese SL6000 roms from which i can extract the necessary files. if there is someone out there who has an japanese sl6000 and wouldn't mind helping me out, i'd like to have a copy of the rom or just the IME files. if there aren't any with these files, perhaps the IME files from a newer model C3x00 might work.... thanks in advance.

Hi,

Our company has just switched to WPA (finally) and now the SL6000 can't connect wirelessly anymore. I saw a thread somewhere that Sharp had a beta update for WPA support, but only for large corporations. Is there anyone here that has it? Or is there some other way to get WPA working on the SL6000? Any help or hints would be appreciated

6000 - Tosa / adhoc
« on: July 13, 2004, 04:16:52 am »
oi,

Yes, it's possible. Under SETTINGS -> NETWORK, when you add a new connection, uncheck Non-Spec ESS-ID: "ANY". After you do that you can choose "802.11 Ad-Hoc" from the Network Type drop down menu
