Cxx0 Hardware / Lexar Compact Flash 2 Gb
« on: July 23, 2004, 03:05:18 am »
I didn't get the Lexar after all. I choose the Sandisk Ultra II 2 Gb. And it works great. I just popped it in and installed videos, dictionaries, games etc. No problems at all and it is frickin' fast.

Sharp ROMs / Guide to Playing Video (any rom)
« on: July 19, 2004, 10:35:18 am »
I did everything as told in here, but when the movie starts I only see it in the lower part from the left side of the screen.
I got a C860 with the original sharp rom and japanese os.
Also Kino2 does not work proper.
Do I have to install another rom to make it work.

Help.

Cxx0 General discussions / installing cacko but keeping japanese

Thank you so much.
And be sure to post the all-japanese rom, when it's ready.

edit:

Okay, now I am frustrated. You see, I never used Linux before and I wonder if there is a guide that explains everything. I mean EVERYTHING. I don't even now where the fricking command line is. And I installed something(fdisk) and I don't know how to open/use it(I guess via the command line).

Hmm, thanks for your reply.
Isn't there a rom that does not remove the japanese stuff?
I guess I have to look on japanese Zaurus sites. But the japanese people don't really like to mess with their computer stuff, so I don't think that I find something.

I found this site, but haven't read it all. For anyone who's interested:

I want to install the cacko rom on my C860, but I want to keep my japanese OS. Will it still be japanese after installing the rom?
Or can I change the OS to english and still use all the japanese stuff(電子辞書、kanji-writing etc.)?

Thanks for helping out

Cxx0 General discussions / What *IS* that thing?
« on: July 07, 2004, 02:28:58 am »
It seems to happen here in Berlin too.
I was at University and I wanted to show someone the neat quality of the .wmvs. And then I showed the japanese interface and the dictionary(I am studying japanese). Suddenly all those other students surrounded me and they all began screaming:
"I wanna have one of those!"

^^;

Since I am studying japanese I use it very often. It was one of the reasons to get a Zaurus in the first place.
If I am reading a newspaper or something on the net and I don't know a kanji, then I can write that kanji on my Zaurus and voila, I get the translation.
But I never use it to write english stuff, that's just not handy.

Cxx0 Hardware / Lexar Compact Flash 2 Gb

Yes this is my third thread where I ask something. I DO use the search button, but am not satisfied with the results. So please forgive me asking all the time, but that's what this forum is about, right.
Anyway, I want to buy this Lexar 2 Gb Compact Flash Card. Has anyone here made any experiences with this sweety?
Can I use this CF card for my Zaurus?

Lexar's official page about this CF card.

Cxx0 General discussions / Bad Zaurus, why do you go to view mode???
« on: July 05, 2004, 01:12:37 am »
Thanks.
You see, I did this full reboot/hard reset(I dunno what it is called actually). I did it because I wanted to have japanese and no english OS. But sometimes I don't know how to do those simple things, like this, cus I didn't get everything what was said in the instruction booklet.

Anyway, thanks for helping me out.

« on: July 04, 2004, 09:35:54 pm »
It only happens when I want to play games. I start wordshuffle or mine-sweeper and the screen changes to view mode. That's quite not handy, since I want to type playing the word game.
WTF is going on?

Could anyone help me out here?

Thanks.

Cxx0 General discussions / C860 & Windows XP: no sync at all
« on: July 04, 2004, 02:17:13 pm »
Cool thanks, it seems to work.
But here is the thing that now kinda bothers me.
On my PC I open the Zaurus File Transferer and then I have to click on the Zaurus to make a connection. Then you would think the two are connected. But no, if I want to go to the image-folder in the Zaurus, I click "Image-folder" in the File Transfer menu, but then I have to click on my Zaurus again to tell him to conact.
Isn't it strange that, I have to tell the Zaurus to make a connection again, if I only want to change folders?

But a big thanks to you anyway, clofland. I finally can install some stuff. woohoo!

EDIT:

EVERYTHING WORKS!

Cxx0 General discussions / C860 & Windows XP: no sync at all
« on: July 03, 2004, 05:04:43 pm »
Hmm, okay, I'll try that one.
I guess I have to uninstall everything I installed from the original software CD. But does the uninstall wizard really uninstall every file from my hardrive or are there still some files in the windows/sytem32 directory?
I wanna make a clean start, so how can I be sure to delete everything, also the drivers?

« on: July 03, 2004, 03:24:29 pm »
I got my C860 yesterday and installed the Japanese software.
But my PC and the Zaurus don't seem to communicate at all. I get this message:

"An error occurred during the data communication.

Please remove the Zaurus from the Docking Station or Serial Cable and reconnect.
Please verify that the PC Link application settings on the Zaurus
match the Zaurus Manager settings on the PC. Please restart again."

There are also other messages but they are not readable, since they are from japanese origin.

Any help would be much appreciated.
