What *IS* that thing?
« on: July 07, 2004, 01:58:18 am »
Just thought that I would pass along an incident.

Eating supper earlier tonight at one of my usual places here & playing a bit of MindBreaker on the C860. Heard a throat cleared close by & looked up to find a number of people standing sbout my table. Assorted ages, sex & dress. One overall question asked - "What *IS* that thing?"

Then -

"can you go on line with it?"

"can you do business on it?'

"what sort of games can it run?"

"does it synch with (fill in the blanks)?"

and so forth. A sort of impromptu ZUG meeting & orientation session right in the resturant. Don't know how many will seriously consider buying C860s but several asked where they could be obtained.

Pay attention, Sharp Japan & US!!

It seems to happen here in Berlin too.
I was at University and I wanted to show someone the neat quality of the .wmvs. And then I showed the japanese interface and the dictionary(I am studying japanese). Suddenly all those other students surrounded me and they all began screaming:
"I wanna have one of those!"

I think quite a few of us have been there Bob, I've had people straining their necks to get a good view as well as the questions you cited, including "Does it run Windows?", my friendliness goes at that point though
Left Linux and Linux PDAs... sorry, got boring.  Switched to Mac.

I'm expecting a few shouts along the lines of "SUGOI!!!" and "HOSHIII!" when classes start up again in the fall, as I turn on my C750 and start handwriting Kanji. My classmates all (or most) have canon wordtanks, which are just electronic sictionaries. And I've already had some linux geek's jaws drop

I haven't had random people suddenly walk up to me and ask questions about my Z though... yet.
