For Sale / Wanted / For Sale Sl-6000 And Sl-5500
« on: July 25, 2007, 10:51:24 am »
Good afternoon,

I'm looking for offers on a SL-6000L and 5500 that I'm not using anymore.

The 6000 was never used very much....screen is perfect no scratches or dead
pixels.  Includes all cables and cradle...I'll see if I can dig up the original CD.

The 5500 has some has some wear on the edges, but the screen is good.
Includes all cables, cradle, CF wifi card, CF camera, extra battery, extra
     charger and CD.

I'll post some pictures this evening.

PM me if you are interested......I'd prefer paypal or cash if local pickup (Philadelphia)

Thanks,
Cort

thanks for the advice.....but if the settings were the problem, why would it work with my CF linksys card?

I called sharp this morning....they were very helpful.  They said it sounds like a hardware problem and send the unit back.  they are even paying the fed-ex bill.  If I send it today, they said I should have it back on Friday.

Thanks,
Cortney

6000 - Tosa / More Wifi Oddness
« on: January 16, 2005, 02:02:26 pm »
Good morning,

I have had trouble connecting my 6000 to an AP at my favorite sandwich shop, Panera (link to post in the Security and Networking  forum https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9853).  Now I can't connect to the internet at all at home!!!  I haven't changed anything with my wireless set-up.....I can ping my router and other computers on my network, but I can't get to the internet..  I tried pinging both the name and the IP with no results.  I am using my Toshiba laptop  wirelessly right now.

At this point I was thinking it as something with Verizion, but....get this....[span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']When I plug in my old Linksys wlan card, it connects just fine!![/span]

If I type iwconfig when connect to the network with the built-in card I get the following message -
Quote
Warning:  Driver for device wlan0 has been compiled with version 12 of Wireless Extension, while this program is using version13.  Some things may be broken.

Has anyone come across this problem?  Is there any information I should post that would help diagnose the problem?

I'm starting to think I should return this to Sharp.  I have had it freeze up many times and spontaneously reboot a few times.

Thanks,
Cortney

Security and Networking / Wifi Oddness

Hi,

I tried my old linksys card and got another odd message...I didn't save it, but the last message said it was connected, but it wasn't.....   Next time I'm over there, I'll post the output.

Using kismet, I didn't detect any other networks, but I'll give that a try.  Couldn't hurt.

Thanks,
Cortney

Good evening,

I am having an issue with connecting to the free wifi at my favorite sandwich shop (Panera).  I have successfully connected once using ssid of PANERA (from kismet output) and once using the any option. I had a look at the dmesg after failing to connect.  Here it is below -

Is there something flaky with my card or flaky with the bakery (or the user).

Thanks

P.S.  I have a 6000L with the stock ROM

6000 - Tosa / Conversion From Sl-5500
« on: December 21, 2004, 10:40:58 pm »
Good evening,

I did this to copy my calendar from my 5500 and I had a couple of notes I thought I'd share.

When I copied all of these files to my cf card (FAT formatted), all of the filenames were changed from all uppercase to all lower case.  None of the pim software seemed to like this.  I fixed the names and it still did't work...the owner and permissions were the same as the default files.  None of my information showed up until I rebooted.

Now that all of my addresses were in the 6000 I added a couple of new people.  The thing I can't figure out is why they won't display in the correct order....For some reason, 'Sten'  now shows up after'Zimmerman'  in ascending order.  I resorted the data by phone number and back....no dice.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Cort

General Discussion / Troubleshooting Wifi Connections
« on: December 14, 2004, 11:33:01 pm »
Good evening,

I just received my 6000 last week and I am loving it.  I followed the excellent how-to for installing kismet and got it to work on the first try.  Now I would like to use it at Paneras. I have tried to connect  many times but, I have only successfully connected twice....once with ssid to `PANERA' and once with `any'.  The only message displayed after a failed connection is that a `connection was not established'.   I have never had a problem connecting  to my home network, so this has me stumpped.

I am still new to linux.....Are there any log files I should be looking at to solve wifi connection issues? Any general troubleshooting hints would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cortney

General Discussion / Flashing yellow light when charging

I had the same problem.....I finally figured out that the problem was the battery contacts.  For some unknown reason the battery wasn\'t making good contact with the battery.  I cleaned up the contacts on the battery and it hasn\'t given me any problems.

Hope this helps.
