6000 - Tosa / Updated Fbvncserver
« on: January 28, 2005, 12:06:58 pm »
I have posted an update to the fbvncserver on our website: http://sdgsystems.com/downloads (version 0.9.6). The updated VNC server includes the "VNC Launch" application that allows you to set rotation (e.g. when your SL-6000 is rotated CCW, select that you want the VNC server to rotate CW to compensate - you'll now see the image 640x480 instead of 480x640). VNC Launch also allows you to kill the server. It is also compiled against libvncserver 0.7.
Enjoy!

The 6000W has both Bluetooth and Wifi. Bluetooth is accessed through /dev/ttyS2.

General Discussion / Zaurus DevNet going down to stay
« on: September 29, 2004, 11:05:26 am »
Just a brief update. The zaurus.com DevNet server is expected to go down on Oct. 1. I plan to get Michael (ofrdgeek) the forum posts, etc. by Oct. 1, as well.

Do you have an indication on the type/amount of financial commitments you're looking for from corporate sponsors?
The rates are not yet set, but are planned to vary based on amount of exposure on the site and on the amount of development and support provided to the corporate sponsor.

General Discussion / Linux Device Group

Regarding Sharp's withdrawal from the US market, I was interested to see the posts on the idea of a "foundation." SDG Systems has been considering something very similar for a few months, called the Linux Device Group (http://linuxdevicegroup.com which currently points to SDG). We are currently talking with some possible corporate sponsors and PDA manufacturers. Regarding individual participants, here are some possible membership benefits (similar to the Mandrake Club):

- Discounts on products from Corporate Partners
- Access to pre-release packages (alpha / beta packages)
- Voting on applications to be developed
- 10% of Individual Membership dues go to Linux non-profit organizations (e.g. Zaurus User Group, Handhelds.org, etc.)

We want to keep Linux handhelds alive and well for both individual users and corporate customers. Our focus will be a stable platform, not necessarily cutting edge; but, feed all source changes back into the cutting-edge groups (pdaXrom, hh.org, etc.).

If any of you represent businesses that would be interested in sponsoring such a plan, please contact me (todd at sdgsystems dot com). I'm interested in any feedback that you all may have.

I asked Sharp's permission to provide the forum database to ZUG. I don't see why they would not agree. I'll let you know.

General Discussion / The Sharp Dev board is not really back
« on: July 01, 2004, 08:22:24 pm »
Speaking of the dev board being "not really back," some may have noticed an outage this afternoon (July 1). The colo center had a denial-of-service attack on another customer which exposed an unpatched bug in their Cisco IOS router. Oops. Just keeping you all informed. Service is available again now.

Sharp ROMs / SL-6000 kernel source
« on: June 08, 2004, 09:12:42 pm »
FYI... SL-6000 kernel source and rootfs has now been posted to http://www.zaurus.com/dev

I\'m sure ofrdgeek will post it at ZUG soon, too. :-)

We\'re checking on the down site with the colo center. I agree with you all that the ZUG is the place to go for community cooperation. The Zaurus.com site is not intended to compete with ZUG, but will hopefully provide the downloads of source code, ROMs, etc. that everyone needs.

Yes, the database remained intact with old settings. I will have the moderators changed. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Qt/Qtopia / non-gui application with .desktop file
« on: June 04, 2004, 01:52:56 pm »
I\'m lauching it from a keypress assignment. I tried doing the QApplication and specifying that it was non-GUI, but apparently you can\'t do QApplication. You must do QPEApplication. But, with QPEApplication there is no \"non-gui\" flag. I hope to get back to trying a couple other things this weekend, but still a no-go at the moment (for the most part, anyway).

General Discussion / Will you use the "new" Sharp devnet?
« on: June 04, 2004, 12:49:11 pm »
The DNS entries are not yet updated, but the IP address is 208.40.197.252. DNS is supposed to be updated by Sharp today. The site will work if you add the following to your \'hosts\' file:

208.40.197.252 zaurus.com www.zaurus.com community.zaurus.com docs.zaurus.com

Otherwise, the DNS entries should hopefully get to you over the weekend.
