6000 - Tosa / Updated Fbvncserver
« on: January 28, 2005, 12:06:58 pm »
I have posted an update to the fbvncserver on our website: http://sdgsystems.com/downloads (version 0.9.6). The updated VNC server includes the "VNC Launch" application that allows you to set rotation (e.g. when your SL-6000 is rotated CCW, select that you want the VNC server to rotate CW to compensate - you'll now see the image 640x480 instead of 480x640). VNC Launch also allows you to kill the server. It is also compiled against libvncserver 0.7.
Enjoy!

General Discussion / Linux Device Group
« on: September 11, 2004, 08:22:07 pm »
Regarding Sharp's withdrawal from the US market, I was interested to see the posts on the idea of a "foundation." SDG Systems has been considering something very similar for a few months, called the Linux Device Group (http://linuxdevicegroup.com which currently points to SDG). We are currently talking with some possible corporate sponsors and PDA manufacturers. Regarding individual participants, here are some possible membership benefits (similar to the Mandrake Club):

- Discounts on products from Corporate Partners
- Access to pre-release packages (alpha / beta packages)
- Voting on applications to be developed
- 10% of Individual Membership dues go to Linux non-profit organizations (e.g. Zaurus User Group, Handhelds.org, etc.)

We want to keep Linux handhelds alive and well for both individual users and corporate customers. Our focus will be a stable platform, not necessarily cutting edge; but, feed all source changes back into the cutting-edge groups (pdaXrom, hh.org, etc.).

If any of you represent businesses that would be interested in sponsoring such a plan, please contact me (todd at sdgsystems dot com). I'm interested in any feedback that you all may have.

Qt/Qtopia / non-gui application with .desktop file
« on: May 25, 2004, 05:23:03 pm »
I\'ve asked this question before, but in a different way - hoping someone can help. I want to have a non-gui application that is launched from the Application tab (i.e. has a .desktop file in apps/Applications). Does a way exist to tell Qtopia that the application has exited? As it is, the \"launch explosion\" remains for a long time.

Qt/Qtopia / Non-gui Qt app launched from Applications
« on: April 22, 2004, 07:31:43 pm »
I need to write a simple application that is launched from the normal Applications tab, but has no GUI output (unless there is an error). It also must not change keyboard focus from the current application that\'s running. (The user can assign a button press to it.) It\'s easy enough to do a simple widget that does something, then exits, but the waiting hourglass remains, as does the \"explosion\" launch graphic. Basically, I want a button press to trigger an event in the background and have it work from any application. Any suggestions?

For Sale / Wanted / FS: 802.11b cards
« on: February 24, 2004, 10:05:21 pm »
SDG Systems about 15 802.11b cards that we need to sell, as we are trying to reduce inventory. The cards are SDG logo cards, but are manufactured by OvisLink. You can see the card here:
http://www.ovislink.com/newovislink/Produc...WCF24/WCF24.asp
You can purchase these cards for $49 each at the SDG Systems\' web site (reduced from $69). We provide an .ipk with the card, and it has been tested in both the SL-5500 and 5600. It should work on any ROM that includes the orinoco driver (built into the kernel in the Sharp ROMs).
