For Sale:

Zaurus SL6000L with everything as it comes from Sharp (cables, cradle, boxes).
Targus IRDA Keyboard

Loaded with Kismet, VNC, Wellenreiter (wifi scanner), and other cool geek programs.

Bought ~1 month ago from Amazon to be used as a portable Video player.  Not as user friendly as I thought. Great for a Linux terminal. Awesome ssh and web browsing terminal.

Absolutely pristine condition. Wish I could just return it to Amazon, but its past the return date.

Replacing it with a Sony TR1A..

$550, you pay shipping + insurance of your choice.

Will let it sit here for a week or so before it goes on eBay.

6000 - Tosa / How to send F8 to VNC
« on: August 18, 2004, 05:26:37 pm »
Solved..

Keypebble version 1.0.0 does indeed have the send ctl-alt-del option. It only shows up after a connection to a windows box is made.

nevarrie,

Any updates on network access? did you get it working?

I am >this< close to taking the plunge with an alternate image on my 6000. Can you post the procedure you used? I am well versed with Linux on the PeeCee but this embedded thing is a whole new world.

I feel 100% at home with the layout of RedHat/Fedora and Slackware. How does the openembedded distro compare?

Keypebble is no longer in the Zaurus ROM version of the opie 1.0.3 feed. I found version 1.0.0 but it also lacks the send-F8 menu option. Anyone have a link for keypebble version > 1.0.0 compiled for the Sharp ROM?

I have keypebble 0.9 installed and it does not have the ctl-alt-del option as part of the menu.

Version 1.0.1 would not install for me (the package would not appear in the package manager). I am using the Sharp ROM. This is probably the problem.

OK, off I go to google for Opie-Keypebble 1.0.1 that the Sharp ROM package installer can see.

Thanks

Yes, I tried this. The ctrl and alt are sticky, meaning they stay highligted when pressed. The sequence of pressing ctrl then alt then del on the onscreen keyboard should work, but doesn't.

I thought this could be the same mechanism as the unix version of vncviewer has. There, you have to press F8, which brings up a dialog with one of the choices being to send ctl-alt-del to the server.

Hello All,

I joined the zaurus commuity by purchasing my very own model 6000. Very impressive piece of electronics. The display is absolutely awesome.

I have loaded it with qkonsole and keypebble vnc viewer. I have the Targus keyboard which also works fine, thanks to IRK.

I have been struggling with vnc to my windows xp box. The connection works fine, I get to the system locked window on xp. How does one send ctl-alt-del to the windows box to get the user name and pw dialog (login screen)?

many thanks
