OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / Which Cf Wireless For 5500 On Oz
« on: December 06, 2004, 10:53:14 am »
so im not a technical guru, I'm weak on linux and what i'd like to know is which cf card should i go for to get my 5500 on a wireless network with the greatest ease, im running a version of open zaurus, I am giving up on my poor little 5500, and i want to give it a new lease of life.

what i plan to do is download the latest stable OZ (3.5.2?) and then attach the wireless cf card so i can get on my home wireless network. Any advise would be appreciated but seeing as the cf will be a christmas present i won't get the chance to try it out til I open up the pressie and plug it in.

cheers

so i thought i'd take a break from trying to figure out how to get my Z connected to ,y pc and though i'd try and move some files around using the SD chip I just bought, but no luck with that, i formatted it to FAT, but i can't see it under the \mnt\card directory
i can't even see the cf card i used to flash the rom, i'm getting a feeling that i need a helluva lot more knowledge about linux then I have right now. I've been surfing around and have spent the best part of a week trying to get my device to work but I haven't got any further.. Any advise.

Cheers

sorry tele i don't quite get what you mean.
I went to myzaurus and downloaded the usb driver for 5500 v3
then installed it. it doesn't appear to have had any effect whats so ever.
as far as i can see i need my computer to recognise my zaurus even exists right now.

could someone post a link to the required software i would need on my windows xp laptop to make it recgonise my zaurus sl-5500?

thanks

my main problem with docking is i don't know how to do it,
i remember reading something about needing to setup usb networking to make it work.

well i've flashed my zaurus to the rom you mentioned (using a cf card reader to transfer the data)

then i tried to get opiemediaplayer2 to work and it failed because my zaurus couldn't reach the internet.. so i guess i need to get this zaurus docking.

I know how to setup a pc network, but i can't get this usb networking to work for me. If you could give me a blow by blow set of instructions on how to get it working using the cradle to connect it would be much appreciated.

thanks

I'm trying to get my zaurus in to a functional build,
I've surfed the net for a bit and i can see that i'm way out of date, but what is the best stable build in peoples opinions?
my main criteria is that it is easy to get a grasp of with plentiful documentation that can help me get a grasp of what is available.
the main thing for me is that it's made easy, i can't get my zaurus to dock with my pc so I'm having to copy files across using SD and mmc cards.

Basically i need a huge load of help to get back on my feet and using my zaurus anybody out there willing to lend me a hand?

Thanks
