« on: January 03, 2008, 03:48:47 am »
Ok, seems I found the answer myself. The feed can be found at: http://www.openzaurus.org/download/3.5.4.1/feed/
I'll check that it works tonight.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Openzaurus Feed Gone?
« on: January 02, 2008, 05:27:40 pm »
Just installed Openzaurus on my C860 (version 3.5.4.1), and tried to install more applications from the feed, but only got an error when the GUI-app tried to wget the files.

Anyone know why this is, or where the feed has gone?
Just so that you know which I'm talking about:

I have a SL-C860 that I bought directly from Japan, and the cd that comes with it. I'll see if I can make a iso-file of it and put online for a limited time so you can download it.

Edit:
Ok, didn't take so long time. It will be on this address in approximately 20 minutes: http://designpolizei.com/files/ZAURUS.iso

Let me know when you've downloaded it (if it's of any interest), so I can take it down again.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.3 On Boxer (c860)

It looks like you're using the updater.sh from cacko (hence the req for the tools package), is this what you meant to do?

If so, it would appear you've forgotten the tools package (part of the cacko flash image download iirc). If you were trying to flash OZ, then use the updater.sh from the OZ feed.

Remember that the updater.sh files are pretty much all different.

Ahh, thanks. I wanted to go back to cacko to repartition, but had a little panic and just put the zImage.bin and not the whole tools.tar on the cf-card.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.3 On Boxer (c860)

Hmm, I did the same stupid mistake (cacko repartitioned c860 and then installing OZ). It handgs on the screen with the woman and the progress-bar. So I tried to go back to cacko, but then I get the following error before it tries to boot the faulty OZ (and hangs again). Here's the messages I get on screen:

[...]
modprobe: can't locate module devinfo
INIT: Entering runlevel 5

[new page]
Installer Starting
cannot detect tools package on /mnt/cf
error (1)
Rebooting
[...]

So, it seems I'm stuck for now. Anybody having any pointers on how to get something installed so I can repartition before I try to install OZ 3.5.3 again?

Cxx0 General discussions / SOS:Java apss on C860 .....

I'm running the Cacko 1.21b ROM, and used the version of Jeode I found on the CD that came in the box. All the test-apps that follows works, but I've had some problems with other java-apps made for the 5xxx series.

I've tried to upload it to the download-area here, but had some problem, so instead I've put it up on my own server so you can download it. For some reason the files name is  personal-profile-for-zaurus_1.0-fcs-b25_arm.tar

Hope you get it working!

Edit: Changed the url, the old file is long gone, but I've put up and iso-image of the original installation CD because of some other files.

Accessories / Neopren Case For C860

I bought an c860 from PriceJapan little under half a year ago. My experience with other handhelds was that it's best to get some sort of case for it from the start. Problem was that none of them were very flexible when it came to storing accessories, and almost all of them just covers top and bottom, but not all the way around the sides. Also, I wanted something that could absorb some amount of shock.

The solution was to buy a sheet of 3mm neopren with textile on each side, and ask my girlfriend very nicely to sew a case, or a bag if you want.

The main compartment is closed with a zipper, and the pocket for accessories has a velcro flap.

Here's some photos if you want to copy the idea.

Software / Which is the best password keeper of Cxx0?
« on: December 01, 2004, 10:29:34 am »
Anyone know the security-level that Z-safe supports. The homepage (http://z-soft.z-portal.info/zsafe/) only states:
"file will be encrypted by using a secure RC2 mechanism"

How safe is that if I have a good password. I'm wondering since I'm also using a CF wlan card from time to time on my c860
