Zaurus - pdaXrom / Sl3100 Sd Boot Kernel + Modules

Hi, i was wondering if someone could compile a 2.6 kernel and modules for me to be used under u-boot, that looks for the sd card for root to boot instead of the internal micro drive on the 3100? I am wanting to do that the u-boot + debian thread describes, but the link for the 3100 kernel that boots off the sd card is down. I currently away from home and don't have access to build things.

What do you want to boot ?

The "original" uboot can do it already, if you want to boot pdaX from SD or internal MD.

I was looking to boot the armel debian from the "debian+uboot" thread, i've gotten it to boot off hda1 on the microdrive, but that was after flashing a new kernel in that thread and putting the modules in the debian root on hda1.

How can I set uboot to boot debian from SD without flashing a new kernel?

Try holding "1", "2", "3" or "4" when booting.
I guess "1" is for "SD".

thanks, that does choose the rootfs!

but i have another problem now, with the default pdaxrom kernel if i do this, then it sits forever at:

freeing init memory: 80k

regardless of what i choose, any idea? this does not happen with the modified kernel from the uboot + debian thread that boots off hda1

I've wanted to do this for awhile, but got real busy with college work.. The farthest ive gotten was connecting my Verizon LG VX-8000 via usb cable to zaurus and reading the dmsg...

Can you please post a tutorial for that samsung phone? This would be real sweet since i leach off verizon's EVDO network getting 3megabits download speed on my laptop and i dont even pay for it, since verizon dosent consider my phone a pda phone and dosent care ( i limit to about 100-200mb  downloads a month on laptop if i'm out somewhere) If not then i use 1x which is decently fast.

GPE test5 image dosent get past the login screen, and i think both gpe and bootstrap the wireless dosent work (also when bootstrap is setting up it says hostap2.6 woudl that be the probelm since the 3100 is 2.4?

Hey, i belive your problem is that you have allot of apps installed on hda2, when the things boots it will try to run ipkg-link to all the stuff after it mounts hda2... then once that is done it will mount hda3... hence why the disc activity shoots for like 10 mins.. then magically once it stops activity it will work/mount/reboot correctly

so if this is the answer to your problem.. then well ur in the same position as me  .. i just wait till its all loaded then i make sure not to reboot unless i have to

newbie warning.

C3100 with 1.1.0beta1
from XQt experimental feed: thunderbird & firefox

i was hoping to show of my new 3100 at work next monday, but all the interesting apps seem to fail. gimp, thunderbird, firefox. the last two fail with an illegal instruction while trying to execute "$PROG" $(1+"$@"} in mozilla startup scripts in /usr/lib/...

the XQt feed should be suitable for my Z, yes?

If u are running pdaxrom install firefox/thunderbird form the actual cXX00 feeds/ cXX0 feeds, not from the X/Qt feeds.

look under zaurus c3100 for the feed links:

i have one pro and one con that i noticed about beta1

pro:
upgrading from rc12 i can now use my bluetooth gps.. all the previous versions bt wouldn't allow me to connect unless i was really really lucky.. (and i'm not a very lucky person).. so now i can use bt (hopefully! need to test a little more..)!! =]

con:
beta1 has a terrible problem with suspending and never coming back.. i notice this especially when i leave a CF wifi card in.. however, i just did a cardctl eject removed it and hit suspend and the screen turned darker but hung.. so i think theres some problems with the suspend script.... i had to hard reset about 10 times in the past 10 minutes.. =(

with the suspend thing... ive noticed this, (pdax1.10beta1 was the first rom i tried on my new cl3100 so not sure if its different in other versions) .. the key to this problem that i've found out is making sure not the press the on/off button multiple times to try to suspend, at first i would try to unsuspend it and it woudlent come up for liek few secs, and i woudl try it again the screen woudl blink then baclighting would die but u could still see stuff.... Now i suspend/unsuspend with one sold press for each holding down for 2-3 sec

migth not work for u, but, this seems to be what i kept doing wrong
