6000 - Tosa / Help! Blew Something In Charging Circuit Sl-6000
« on: February 01, 2009, 11:53:29 am »
HI all;

In a momnetary lapse of judgement, I attached my SL-6000 directly to a 12v power source. The screen got brighter, and then a pop. The unit still worked while the battery had juice, but it won't accept a charge. I imagine there is a fuse or capacitor blown inside, but a look over did not spot anything obvious.

Does anyone have any insight? I don't do small board sodering, but I know people who do, if I can get them pointed in the right direction.

Waiting hopefully,
Chris

6000 - Tosa / Sync Stopped Working
« on: May 07, 2006, 10:07:03 pm »
I have been syncing my Sl6000 with outlook on XP for a few years. recently, the sync software stopped working. When I attempt to configure the sync software, it crashes. The crash occurs when I click on any sync option (email, clandar, etc) and then "Outlook" in the resulting popup window.

I'm writing in the remote hope that somebody else have experienced this and knows a solution. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the softare twice with no effect.

6000 - Tosa / 6000 Batteries Available ... And Cheap
« on: January 15, 2006, 08:05:00 pm »
THis might disgust some here, but I would be interested in getting the WINCE image and trying it on my Z. There are some apps that I would very mcuh like to use, and they are WINCE.

Any ideas on that possibility?

Hey Neuro...  you might consider dropping a line to Streamline/Trisoft about these batteries.  They are frustrated themselves at the 6000 battery situation, and would probably appreciate leads.  Also, it could be easier to let them do the import hasslework and not have to coordinate a group buy.

Oh, and I too am now interested in obtaining a FLORA-ie MX1 and taking it for a test drive.

. The same friend is handling having one of my 6000's upgraded with the Bluetooth hack to give it 6000W functionality at a total cost of about $38. (I have NO clue where he got the chip or who's doing the soldering- He's in the industry and he's pulled off similar miracles for me before.)

The way I get around this on my Sl-6000 is to break up the file into smaller "Chapters". At first, I actually found the book' schapter break points, but that took too much time. Now, I just use Goldwave, whcih has an option to break up into files of X:XX length automatically.

If only Sharp would make a 3100 with WIFI, bluetooth, and the 4" screen of the 6000, *AND* the latest Linux kernel!!

Yep. If sharp came out with this, I would sell my 6000 and buy it in a a heatbeat. Or course, if they do this, fate would hae it they would do something stupid like remove theusb host, which would be a dealbreaker for me.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Getting Past Twm
« on: October 10, 2005, 01:05:00 pm »
Thanks - I had used the directions on the pdaxrom.org doumentation page. I guess tThe line about sizing root to 50mb is not appicable to the sl6000. Worked using the guylhem rom first, there is most likely an easier way, but this worked. Now to play!

So, I've seen these around:

http://www.thinkgeek.com/gadgets/electronic/5a68/

And I was wondering if anyone had tried to charge their Zaurus using any solar means yet?  That device just has a cigarette-style adapter, and it says that it generates 145mA @ 12volts and 290mA @ 6volts.  Would that be enough to charge a bit?

That company makes quite a few other products as well.

Any experiences to share?

Here is a new corsair build that should address all bugs reported to-date on this thread.  Specifically:

1.  Redirects should work.  The arstechnica site, for example, works.

2.  The crash-on-refresh bug should be fixed.

3.  Podcasts with "?" in them should be saved correctly.  The nightline podcast, for example, works.

4.  Double-tapping on a news item that is a text post, not a podcast, will now display the text of that item rather than trying to download and play it.

Thanks for testing, and please post to this thread if you find bugs.  If you find a bug with a particular feed, please post the feed URL.
