Sharp ROMs / Kino 2.04 On C860 Jp
« on: January 08, 2005, 12:40:54 pm »
Hi,

I just installed Kino2.04 on my C860 with the Japanese Sharp ROM but I get the following error when i try to run the app using the terminal (tapping the icon doesn't seem to do anything):

Code: [Select]
bash-2.05$ kino2
Display size = 480x640
QObject::connect: No such signal QCopChannel::setDocument(QString)
QObject::connect:  (sender name:   'unnamed')
QObject::connect:  (receiver name: 'unnamed')
QObject::connect: No such signal QCopChannel::setBlankLCD(int)
QObject::connect:  (sender name:   'unnamed')
QObject::connect:  (receiver name: 'unnamed')

Does anybody have similar problems and possibly a solution?

Software / Picsel Browser

A friend of mine works at Picsel in Japan and he showed me the browser running on a PocketPC back in 2002. It really blew me away because you could seamlessly zoom in and out of a webpage, really smooth - just like a vector image. I'm not sure if i like the menu system too much though....

Okay, I installed Knquiz 0.7 and now compounds work fine for me!

To celebrate this occasion I made some more studylists:

* kanji according to frequency use
* words according to frequency of use
* JLPT vocabulary according to level (1-4)
* jouyou kanji according to grade
* common words according to edict

I haven't tested all lists yet, so you could get mixed results.. (when a word is not in edict for example). Also I recommend to switch of the "break down compound" feature for lists that contain words written in both kanji and kana.

Thanks halx!

I installed the new kanjidic and I love the kanjilinks!

I also replaced my old edict but your new one is actually about 10MB smaller that the previous one I got from your site? seems to work great though.

ashikase: naruhodo!  I loaded the sample.knq in knquiz again, but still i only get separate kanji... however, sometimes I it only shows only a dash with the buttons right/wrong, so maybe this is supposed to be the compound. I'm not using your latest version so I will upgrade to see If that fixes my compound problem (^^;;

mukei: french? how did you figure that out?? actually I am dutch
But if you are looking for a good french/english dictionary you can get one here for zbedic.

The current version (as well as all previously released versions) already includes support for compounds - try adding one to a study list.

OK I will try it

Until now I just assumed it didn't support compounds because i looked at the sample.knq file with my editor and there were some compounds in here. but when i loaded it in knquiz the compounds were broken down into seperate kanji again.

Hi, I made some flashcard sets for knQuiz:
  • The jouyou kanji (as tought in japanese schools) according to grade.
  • The Kanji according to frequency of use.
Enjoy!

Ashikase: Are you planning to add support for compound kanji (linked to edict) in future releases of your excellent knQuiz program?

edwinbradford: If you don't mind me asking - where did you get that very nice theme for your zaurus?

ashikaze: thanks for your Kanji Quiz program, I installed it yesterday and it works and looks great!  (I haven't tested kanji compounds yet though, and I don't really understand the use of the comment box...) Thank you, and good luck with your JLPT!
