6000 - Tosa / USB Adaptor & Cables

Since 6000 came with Samba installed, I just use that to copy files to Zaurus. I don't think it can be any easier.

6000 - Tosa / How To Restore 6000 To Original State?
« on: December 17, 2004, 01:46:56 am »
I'm trying to restore back to the Sharp Rom and it doesn't work. I did this successfully before a couple of times with the instruction previosly posted, so I don't know what went wrong. When I press q+t+reset both leds light on but after a short while both leds blinks forever. I know this leds should go out after NAND restore, but they blinks.

I also tried OZ 3.5.2 and it says:
"Seriously problem!!! Your Zaurus not SL-C700/750/760/860/6000 model. Cannot install OpenZaurus on unknown, press the ENTER key for reboot."

Any suggestion? Thanks.

6000 - Tosa / SL-6000 carry cases

Hi,  the nutshell company (http://www.tuff-as-nuts.com/Products.htm) in New Zeland has a great variety of cases and one should fit the sl-6000.  They give you all the dimensions.  If you find one that fits let me know what you think.
I have a Nutshell case and it works great. Mine is PDA case #215.  Even though the dimension of the case is shorter than the Zaurus on the spec it fits perfect. You can also customize it in many ways. Downside of this case is that it's not cheap.

6000 - Tosa / OpenZaurus, OZ on the 6000

Was anyone able to initiate wlan successfully? Everytime I try to bring it up it fails. I created wlancfg file with my ssid and wep setting. I'm not sure what else I need.

I also see vertical line but it's not that annoying. Once I refresh the screen it's gone.

One thing is that the power button does nothing. It used to do suspend in sharp rom. I'm not sure it's what it is supposed to be(it's my first experience with OZ). Even if I suspend it from the menu there is no way I can wake it up except reset.

6000 - Tosa / USB Hotplug Issues
« on: November 04, 2004, 12:57:34 am »
Did you mount it? Something like this:
mount /dev/sda1 -t vfat /mnt/usbstorage

You may want to change /etc/fstab file later to make it easy.

Is this on the Sharp ROM?  If so, was there anything special you had to do to get the usb flash drive recognized on the OTG connector?  I picked up the quick connect which has the usb mini a -> whatever, but haven't yet found whether or not I need to install some software or modify something.

At least, not yet
I also bought QuickConnect usb cable and I was able to mount my Sandisk cruzer mini without any tweaking. It came right up.

Try there

It's all too easy to be misunderstood isn't it. But we're all cool, so that's ok.  ;-)

That did the trick!  Opie installed and Keypebble is working!!  Now I'm 1-2...
I have not been able to find a keeble install that works. Could anyone point me to a location where I can download one that does work on the SL-6000?

If you do, please let me know which version of lib opie I need as well.

Thanks in advance,
Chris
I finally found the keypebble that works for the 6000 after hours of google search. It's old 1.0.0 version for sharprom that was removed from the opie website. It works great. I don't know why they removed this version from the opie website and do not give us the new one. Since it works I don't have any complaint. If anyone need it just send me an email. Thanks.

6000 - Tosa / Can I change default system font?
« on: November 02, 2004, 10:56:09 pm »
I'm replying my question. I don't know if there is any elaborate way but I just removed Helvetica and made a symlink to the font I want. That changed the system fonts. Hope this helps anyone who wants to change the fonts.

6000 - Tosa / Can I change default system font?
« on: October 29, 2004, 04:37:34 pm »
Hi, I just got my 6000 and started configuring it. I'm wondering if I can change the font that is used globally. I tried a quick search but I was not able to find anything related.

In a setting there is an appearance and font section but all I can do is just to make it thick.  Thanks.

I'm bringing up this old post.
I just got SL-6000L and I want to use mine in my school. We also use odyssey client to authenticate and I'm looking for 802.1x client. Anyone has any thought? Thanks.
