ok, i found out where it is... but i can ipkg update and now RC9 has buggerd again, half the things won't work anymore, along with ROX that i need to go to find where i was told the btscanner will be...

evil

how do i create a new shortcut for the program? especially now that RC9 fooked up again

ok, after reflashing back to RC9 everything is working fine... i just actually took the time to see if it was working before going and performing an ipkg upgrade.

never going to use that command on RC9 as that is what buggerd up it in the first place as i have just found out.

On another point... there are some programs that I installed from the RC9 feed in package manager that do not place a shortcut in say "Other" where the hell are my programs installed and how to I create a new shortcut for said programs?  Really annoying when it's not done for you during install, some programs do but most don't >.<

I installed the btscanner and can't find it anywhere... silly unix file system

i did everything properly, as i have done in the past with RC's such as RC 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. 9 just doesn't seem to want to work

My Z just doesn't like RC9 for some reason, i have no idea why and i can't be arsed reflashing to RC9 after putting RC8 back on just to remember the problems. I'll wait for RC10

Ever since I reflashed from RC8 to RC9 my Z just stopped working and I can't do I thing with it    

I tried reflashing RC9 3 times but still the same problems... -nothing- works apart from the screen rotate and the suspend function, apart from that I can't open a single program.

I wanted to put RC8 back on but it's useless without the ipk feed for RC8.
I tried searching google for a way to force Windows Mobile 2003 onto my Zaurus but there is nothing that tells you how to do it.  

I really hope RC10 will work and not bugger up my Z as RC9 did... Been waiting for ages for it now, is there any news on when it will be available for download?

Command & Conquer Red Alert, Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun are all low cpu and graphic games, I would love to play a C&C game on my Z.

C&C seems to be quite an open source game, apart from and new versions of the game which need uber 3D cards.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Hardware problems with pdaXrom..

I found that after re flashing from RC8 to RC9 that my Bluetooth card stopped working, I don't remember the exact problem as I am back on RC8 now, also every time I try to put my Zaurus into standby with the Bluetooth card in the PDA just crashes and I end up having to take the battery out to restart it

(Had to edit this as I forgot to mention my Bluetooth card make...)
It is a Armadillo Bluetooth CF Card V1.1. Model no: LSE039/4 R1D Type: LSE039

That's one problem I'm having...

The other is with the USB data cable, when I set the USB settings so it will let my comp access the SD slot I keep getting my comp telling me that even when I have a card in the SD slot it says "There is no disk in the drive" The Zaurus shows up in My Computer as a new removable drive but it just will not work. It has never worked since the feature was added. Do I need to install some special driver for my Zaurus on to my comp which runs XP Pro SP 2 instead of it using the generic driver that XP installs the second you connect the Z for the first time?

Apart from that I'm really happy with RC8, don't know about RC9 as I used it for only 10 mins before going back to 8, waiting for RC10 now

One more thing that probably isn't related to the OS but... then I install the WiFi scanner from the IPK feed it doesn't give me an icon anywhere to let me use the program and I have no idea where it is installed, I have that prob with a few of the programs that I install.

One last thing... The PPP thing for accessing the internet only lets me dial a phone number, it there not a way I can get my Z to connect to my phone and connect to the internet via GPRS so that I don't have to pay for the duration that I am online, just pay for the amount of data transferred.

But having the description and version number right next to the ipk title is much easier, why can't it be like it was? Package manager still has the version and description columns, why stop using them making things harder to find?

When ipk's don't have proper titles how are you supposed to know what it is if there is no desc right next to it?

I think there should also be a new column telling the category of the ipkg.

e.g..

System, Game, Video, Audio, Office etc...

oooppsss. Did a updated and i removed the htaccess file.. All should be working now.

What has happend to the discriptions of eack ipk?   they are not showing up anymore

Hey, me again.

I got my WiFi and internet working on my Z and I couldn't be happier, this is a great ROM      

But, I was wondering if there is an easy way to update all installed packages at once.

E.g..
You add a new button in Package Manager that when pressed will connect to the feed that you have set in the Settings tab and will compare version numbers from every package that you have installed to packages located in the feed. When it comes across a package in the feed with a newer version number to what's installed it will prompt you that there are updates available for 'list of packages installed' and will ask weather or not to install the newer versions.

Now I know nothing about programming for Linux so I have no idea how difficult such a function can be written but it would be a nice feature to have in one of the next Package Manager updates.

That's for the GUI Package Manager, I don't know if it can already be done from command line as I try not to bother with it, too much text for my simple mind  hehe.

When will all the updates be available in the main rom download for re-flashing?

I'm stuck without my WiFi card working, without WiFi I have no way of getting my Bluetooth card from working  

On another note, is there any software out there that will let me scan for Bluetooth devices other than a DUN search for phones. It would be nice if I could connect to say another pda with Bluetooth, laptop, Bluetooth headset for wireless headphones.

My laptop can do it and it would be amazing if my pda could too

hi, I have the same evil WiFi problems, I tried changing the wireless.opts file, it didn't fix my problem but it did change the way the light on my WiFi card flashes. I still cant ping any comps on my network though I can ping myself

I have the LA4100 Spectrum24 CF WLAN Card, if you know of a way to fix this quickly and easily is it not too late to include it in the update so I can do a full reflash?

Hey, I am fairly new here and have owned my Zaurus for over a month now and I wondering if there will be a Bluetooth service like you have on windows.

e.g..

Scan for Bluetooth devices
Network to a PC or other PDA
Share files and set a public folder

etc... that sort of thing.

all I can do at the moment is look for a phone with a DUN profile so I can dial up to the internet, that's it
