Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Serial Connection Under Opie
« on: September 06, 2005, 12:14:26 pm »
Hi all!

I have switched to oz/opie from cacko, and I want to use my c760 as a serial terminal. Under cacko, it worked. I installed microcom, it probes devices /dev/ttyS0..2, but without success. When i try microcom -D/dev/ttySA0, it says cannot open device.

Is minicom available for opie? Or can I build a package from it?

Sharp ROMs / Zaurus As Emergency Terminal
« on: March 06, 2005, 02:32:41 pm »
Hi! I want to use my Z as a serial terminal for servers, but I only have an USB cable, and in Hungary, you cannot buy a serial cable. Does it work with an usb -> serial cable, or directly from usb? Which settings does it need for server or for the Z side. Can I do this with konsole? Can i do this thing with a BT usb dongle and a bluetooth CF card? Sorry for the lame questions, i have never done a thing like this before.

An other question: is there any apps can open chm (windows help) files? I have some books in that format. I am using xchm for that on desktop.

do you use kino2? it usually leaves a terrible mess after itself, including screwed up frequency.

Yes, i am using it, but not kino did this i think. Kino is the only thing is cacko which is not quite good, it doesn't know the length of the mp3s, slow to make a playlist. For movies it's ok, but i play the movies from command line. But it's far better than the sharp music player.

Hi! Sometimes when i draw a line with the stylus or when tap and hold something, it smudges. This makes the drawpad and the handwriting recognition unuseable. I am sure that this is a software issue, bacause openzaurus doesn't produce this, nor does cacko all the time. At the first install it was wrong, than some installed software repaired it, now it is wrong again. If you don't catch what i mean, you can see a screenshot at http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~bp504/
Anyone has an idea what is this?

Check your clock frequency. Mine does that when running below 200MHZ. Set it to PXA255 and you should be good.
It would be nice if the applet displayed which freq is associated with which name.
