Some Annoying Things In Cacko 1.22a

Does anyone else using Cacko light have a problem with light setting where on battery power no matter whether you check 'Dim light after' or not zaurus dims anyway (after about 15 or so seconds)? I want to somehow set this so that no matter which level of dim I choose for light (using either hardware buttons or light setting dialog screen) it does not change after that.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=67685\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

I get this only after having used kino, for some reason after I close kino it resets my "Dim after" setting to checked. The check box isn't checked but I have to check it and uncheck it to return to the never dim status

God that thing was irritating. Thanks for finding what it was.
Kino is definitely going in the right direction, but some quirks like this and the globally bound keys are a real killer.

I agree - kino is definitely improving with every release and closing in on being fully stable and useful. Maslovsky knows about global key problem and already indicated he will fix that soon. Hopefully this dim issue as well since these 2 problems make Z almost feel like mswin (you know the feeling - you run something and after that nothing related to it (as far as you know ) runs as it used too...).
I do wish however that we can get the new mp3 tags implemented in kino as well (I know it's mplayer where this should logically be done but somehow I have a bad feeling it will take much longer for mplayer developers to add this to mplayer than it would for Maslovski to hack something together and add it to kino).

Well, you just need to fins or create a sutable layout for your language. Check Keyboard application under Settings - maybe it already has one.

Ok,

also on the annoyances:

Just about the only one I have is that  I seem to have lost the ability to write umlauts and accented characters ( ä, ü ö, è é). I know this somehow can be changed using keyhelper (anyone have link how to do this? ) and I might have done it in the past myself, but wouldn't it be nice if this came  by default

Other than that I really love the cacko rom, it it a major improvement over the standard Sharp rom.

Yes, I know about those two issues, the are on my todo list for version 0.4.3. Just stay patient

Strange, this is a well known functionality of keyhelper, which is build into input methods in Cacko ROM. I will add this to FAQ.
My man.
I've replied with my opinion about the tags shenanigans.

Hi! Sometimes when i draw a line with the stylus or when tap and hold something, it smudges. This makes the drawpad and the handwriting recognition unuseable. I am sure that this is a software issue, bacause openzaurus doesn't produce this, nor does cacko all the time. At the first install it was wrong, than some installed software repaired it, now it is wrong again. If you don't catch what i mean, you can see a screenshot at http://www.hszk.bme.hu/~bp504/
Anyone has an idea what is this?

Check your clock frequency. Mine does that when running below 200MHZ. Set it to PXA255 and you should be good.
It would be nice if the applet displayed which freq is associated with which name.

I also noted that LCD frequency of 100 Mhx can cause that. Edit /home/qtPalmtop/qpe.sh file and uncomment the line, which sets freq to 75.

do you use kino2? it usually leaves a terrible mess after itself, including screwed up frequency.

Yes, i am using it, but not kino did this i think. Kino is the only thing is cacko which is not quite good, it doesn't know the length of the mp3s, slow to make a playlist. For movies it's ok, but i play the movies from command line. But it's far better than the sharp music player.

An other question: is there any apps can open chm (windows help) files? I have some books in that format. I am using xchm for that on desktop.
