You could make a change to the arch setting in /etc/ipkg.conf or /etc/ipkg/* on your Zaurus. This would certainly be easier than editing each ipk file.

How did you come to produce files with an arch of armv5te in the first place?

P.S. See drw's post here for more info about altering the conf files: https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=9128&st=15

Thanks lardman,

I had actually ended up writing a script to do this and got this to work. But this is a much better solution though ! ..

now I am stuck with trying to compile the package again after I modified the source code .. I am getting an error in do_install. Any idea why this might be happening ?

Hello all,

I compiled a software for the Z6000 (running OZ 3.5.2) using the openembedded toolkit which generated about >1300 ipks. The problem with these ipks is that the control files in all of them have 'architecture : armv5te' and I can install them only when it is changed to 'architecture : arm'.

And I am horrified at the thought of unpacking each of those files, changing this line and packaging them again !

could anybody having experience with openembedded help here ? I checked the conf files but couldn't find where this change needs to be made. I'm using bitbake to compile the package.

thanks !

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Ipkg Cannot Find Package ?

Thanks lardman,

figured it out ... the architecture was set to armv5te and changing it to arm makes it work. But I havce another problem. I have about 1200 of these ipks. (generated by openembedded)  .. any suggestions ? (please also look at my other post )

thanks !

Where did the ipk come from?

You should check that the arch is correct (compare the control file in the ipk to the setting in /etc/ipkg.conf or /etc/ipkg/*) also check that the control file is not broken (no gaps - empty lines, etc.).

That'd be my guess anyway (after having troubles trying to install stuff from pdaXrom on OZ+GPE).

P.S. I don't imagine that tacking a ./ onto the front of the ipk name (so that it has a path) will make any odds, but you may as well try it.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Ipkg Cannot Find Package ?
« on: April 01, 2005, 01:02:43 pm »
Hello all,

I recently installed OZ3.5.2 on my Z and was trying to install an ipk from the local disk. However, when I ran the ipkg install <foo.ipk>, it gave me an error that said :

root@tosa:~# ipkg install gaim_1.1.2-r0_armv5te.ipk
Clearing state_want and state_flag for pkg=gaim (arch_priority=0 flag=16 want=2)Cannot find package gaim.
Check the spelling or perhaps run 'ipkg update'
An error ocurred, return value: 4.

I am guessing that there is some database being looked up which does not have an entry for 'gaim'. Any suggestions on how to get this to work ?

Thanks

6000 - Tosa / Kismet on the 6000
« on: January 28, 2005, 11:54:44 pm »
I was able to get kismet running on the Z6K, thanks to the tutorial, but I am having the same problem as some of the other people here in that the Zaurus freezes once you close it.

Did anybody find a solution to this problem yet ?

Does anyone else's Zaurus lock up after running Kismet for so long?  I have to yank out my battery to reboot it and I can see it getting slower as kismet runs.
I followed the instructions too and now have Kismet running.

But sadly, after finding a few networks, it just freezes up the whole Z.
I have to do a reset  - the <Power> <Rec> button and reset switch on the back .

(BTW) how do we do a soft reset on the 6000L ?

I dont know why kismet is hanging up as of yet ...
