Bought  a Zonet ZCF 1100 om E-Bay when I got my SL5000d (on E-bay) about 1-1/2 years ago. I think the Flash Card cost about $20.00. It worked the first time I plugged it in. O/S Qtopia for Embedix Plus PDA v1.5.0 (6/26/02). No idea on GPS, I still use a compass. Should be lots of  802.11b CF cards out there that will work for not a lot of money.

Windows Issues / Outlook 2003
« on: August 01, 2005, 04:05:32 pm »
Hi,

SL5000d
OS: XP Pro SP2
Intellisynch for SL 5500 Update
Opie 3.2
crow flash sl5000d (Included NeoCal)

After installation, I'm unable to set up applications with Outlook 2003.
Previously with Outlook 2000, I was able to synch the Address Book, Calander,
To Do list and my In Box. Communications is fine as I can transfer files.
Once, I was able to set up E-Mail with 2003, (had the Outlook transfer <--> icon for that function) but it may have been a fluke.

When I "choose" the other applications and designate Outlook as the translater,
I get a message that the associated file is either in a different location or is a file of zero length.

When I choose the "browse" nothing happens unless I'm working with E-Mail; then I am presented with the directories Inbox, Sent Items, and Outbox.

The installation that seems to work best is following the Intellisynch dialog literally and not restarting the computer before plugging in the cradle with the Z active.
I'm using a rear USB port as suggested by Intellisynch help.

I got a dual PCMCIA port to work with this machine and I gotta believe there has to be a way to make this work. Otherwise the PDA's role is severely limited.

Help is appreciated

Windows Issues / Usb Driver With Xp Pro, Sl5000d
« on: January 06, 2005, 10:59:23 am »
Hi All,

I've made several attempts to install Intellisync on an XP Pro machine. I'v tried both the updated and original versions for the SL5500. I had success earlier with Windows ME and Outlook 2002.

Whenever I plug the docking station into any USB port, I get an "Unknown USB Device" message from Windows. It shows up as an Unknown Device in device manager as well. I'm unable to update the driver from here.

I've tried re-installs repeatedly, each time having to uninstall Inellisync
first (it forces you to). I also ran into the same problem with Qtopia on this machine. Apparently, XP won't (premeditated) or can't (incompetence) recognize the SL5x00 driver.

An aside on this. At the end of the install I usually get a message from Intellisync that overlays the restart dialog box. This message details the sequence of plugging in the docking station and then the Z and then turning it on to install the driver. This ambiguity in the instructions implies that I should do these steps before restarting. I've not done that as I had restarted first with the successful ME installation - as is the case with other USB devices I've installed.

Suggestions are appreciated.

Windows Issues / Syncing Problem - Z5600 And Outlook 2003
« on: December 31, 2004, 09:13:01 pm »
I'm new, but this is an the issues I had with Outlook 2003. My SL5000d synched fine with Outlook 2002,  but not 2003. I recall reading, either in the help database or on the MS site that 2003 did not support handhelds. This seemed odd, but MS is concentrating their efforts in cell phone software, so I wasn't surprised.

Anyway, I'll try reinstalling Qtopia. I love the new Outlook interface and it would be hard to go back to 2002. Right now, I update the Z on a different machine than the one I read E-Mail on.

An aside: I have an old Pentium 200 Mhz laptop (64 MB) running 98SE.
I love this machine (Amity CN) and have used it to compile C and JAVA programs while in school and when traveling. It actually runs C-Builder 5 very well. I'm composing this message on it using a Belkin PCMCIA wireless card.

Anyway, I'm unable to get my SL5000d to synch with it (using Qtopia (SL5500 version with Outlook 2000). The USB1.1 port works with a flash drive and with other devices. Also I've installed the same Qtopia version on a Cyrix 800 Mhz desktop with Windows ME and it works fine, although it has USB2.0.

I've also tried the other synchonize program that came with the
PDA. It also will not synch.  With either program, I'm unable to
make a connection between the laptop and the SL5000d.

I know that my equipment might be a little old, hope that's not the problem.

Suggestions are appreciated.
