Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Mp3 Player?
« on: May 27, 2005, 07:43:12 am »
I have a Zaurus c860 running 3.5.3 w/GPE.  I've always struggled with the mp3 portion of the device.  I've used gpe-nmf (which doesn't seem to be available anymore) and orpheus.

What are others using?  Orpheus isn't bad but I'm wondering if there are any other solutions out there.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Xmms Issues
« on: February 10, 2005, 04:50:27 pm »
Glad to hear that worked.  I have learned to use the "disable suspend" feature before I use xmms...  since I really hate to pull out my pda and start typing shell commands while i'm at the gym.

I've compiled grisbi for rc8 and rc9. It does work, however when I actually use it (ie. import qif files, change prefs, etc) I end up getting more crashes than are worth the effort.  I started chatting with the Grisbi developers sending crash reports, etc but there we're so many I haven't found the time to complete it.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Makeing the Z a nice mp3 player
« on: February 03, 2005, 04:25:31 pm »
Incase people don't have headphones with volume control (like me) these settings in /etc/X11/kb/xmms.xmodmap might work better.

keycode 131 = B
keycode 132 = Z
keycode 133 = Up
keycode 134 = Down

This make OK/Cancel skip to next song, back one song and maps UP/Down to Volume.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Alternative Mp3 Player For Pdaxrom
« on: January 31, 2005, 08:14:03 am »
The player included in the feed for the cacko rom is great.  I think it's just called Sharp Music Player in the feed.

When I'm at the gym, taking out my 860 and fooling with the keyboard or trying to debug "Cannot access audio" msgs isn't really aren't what I want

So I guess the search continues...

Is anyone using anything other than XMMS as mp3 player on the Zaurus w/pdaxrom?

XMMS is great, however it's not very optimisted for on-the-go type of play.  Trying to find the right button while driving isn't easy!

I'd be open to compiling a player from source and packaging it if someone has a suggestion on a lite mp3 player than utilizes the full screen of the zaurus.

Is there any updates to the developer sdk?  I'm getting quite a few compile errors with rc8 devel where the same source compiled fine for rc5

weird.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Xmms Issues
« on: January 26, 2005, 10:22:47 am »
Hi,

I've been using pdaxrom for a few weeks now and have had some issues with xmms, especially in regards to playing after a resume.    I"ve searched the forums and haven't had much luck finding info.

1.  On a clean reboot if if i startup xmms (esd output) and press play I get an error message saying the resource cannot be opened.  When I press play a second time it starts playing.

2.  When playing and either the pda goes into suspend or I manually suspend it - with xmms open but doesn't _have_ to be playing but usually is - it will not play again.  I get the error message that the resource cannot be opened.   The only fix I have found is a full reboot.  Killing xmms (it sometimes hangs during resume), closing and reopening, etc does not help.

Is there any help or suggestions on how to fix this?  I haven't installed LSOF yet but while, however that's not really a fix.

Thanks.

Security and Networking / SanDisk Connect Plus - Driver
« on: January 18, 2005, 04:14:40 pm »
One thing I can't really figure out.  The card installed in WinXP (not easily mind you) and works fine.

What's the need to reflash the card to be used in linux?  Or is there?

I can't find any resources on the web where someone has this card successfully working.

Still looking.

has anyone gotten the sandisk connectplus card working?

Yes, the driver, which support this card is included in Cacko ROM 1.22, but some configuration file changes are still needed.

Since I no longer have this card, I coulnd't make it work out of the box.

Sharp ROMs / Cacko Rom 1.22 Is Available!
« on: January 18, 2005, 03:00:05 pm »
I did manage to get the primary flash install, however on the secondary i get:
Quote
# prism2_srec -rp wifi0 rf010704.hex
srec summary for pm010101.hex
Included file name: pm010101.hex
Component: 0x0015 1.1.1 (primary firmware)

Verifying update compatibility and combining data:
Plugging PDR 0400 (NIC configuration): ram16=1 pci=0 (03 00)
OK.

Downloading to volatile memory (RAM).
ioctl[PRISM2_IOCTL_DOWNLOAD]: Input/output error
Download failed!

Any suggestions?  Thanks for your help.

This is one of the places where you can get firmware files:

http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/

Since I don't have this card, I can't make it working either even though the ROM has nessesary drivers.

Hostap driver supports this card, but additional steps are needed to make it actualy working. See this thread for details: http://www.dsitri.de/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?...er=asc&start=15

Also this card needs firmware to be downloaded:

prism2_srec -gs wlan0 PM010101.hex
iwpriv wlan0 reset 1
prism2_srec -rp wlan0 RF010704.hex

I wasn't able to get hold on such card before 1.22 release, so aall this was not included in the ROM.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=60070\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

Do you have any more information on this?  Where do you get the hex files required to flash the card?  i haaven't had any luck getting this card working.
