5x00 Hardware / Sl-5000d Mods. Can Ram Be Upgraded?
« on: January 11, 2005, 08:26:50 am »
Is it in this Hardware section?  I did some searches and couldn't find it.

I'm also wondering if there is a way to get to a JTAG interface on the Z or if anyone has experience running kgdb or gdbserver.

Thanks,

Brian

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / What Oz 3.5.2 Syncing Soft. To Use For Windoze?
« on: January 11, 2005, 08:20:09 am »
Now that I am running OZ 3.5.2, what syncing software is available for Windoze?

I saw a list somewhere that listed all the compatible programs but I can't find it now and I don't remember where I saw it.

I'd also like to hear from others running 3.5.2 to find out which one works best for them.

Thanks in advance!

Brian

5x00 Hardware / Sl-5000d Mods. Can Ram Be Upgraded?
« on: January 09, 2005, 10:42:05 am »
I have access to surface mount extraction tools and have yanked parts off boards before (pulled 68030 off my Atari Falcon motherboard to upgrade it to a Centek Turbo II a few years ago) so I'm wondering if the SL-5000D hardware would "like" bigger RAM chips.

Anyone have access the the schematics (or knowledge if is possible or not) so I can see if there are enough address lines etc.?

Thanks,

Brian

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Help To Setup Root Filesystem On Sd Card
« on: January 09, 2005, 10:32:04 am »
.... I would like to maximize RAM so I assume having the root filesystem on SD is what I need.

Is this the only way?  What is the most common approach to accomplish the above?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Keyring From Feed Doesn't Work In 3.5.2
« on: January 09, 2005, 10:26:39 am »
You'll have to forgive me.  I'm kind of new to OZ (but I've been doing Debian since 1992 and this stuff looks like apt-get).

I tried the:
ipkg-link mount /mnt/mmcda1 command and it failed.

I did a google search on ipkg-link and found the 3.5.2 release notes (these are not on the OpenZaurus web site I don't think) http://openembedded.org/oe_wiki/index.php/OzReleaseNotes

It talked about the package manager being unstable at the moment and then talked about using the command line to install packages.

After checking out this document, I tried ipkg-link mount /mnt/card and it added the programs I installed to the SD and then keyring worked.

This probably explains why I was having trouble last night trying to install packages using the package manager gui.

Thanks for the hint!

Brian

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Help To Setup Root Filesystem On Sd Card

I would like to get the 32-0 image working on a SL-5000D.  I thought the install would just take care of it but I have tried doing the first power-up both with and without the SD card present (it hangs on first boot if any card is present ... SD or CF; this isn't new news as I've since learned)

I read and tried to follow the document I found on OpenEmbedded to set it up:
http://openembedded.org/oe_wiki/index.php/...ot%20filesystem

Could someone that knows this procedure and runs their system this way please contact me.  I'd like to see what the ipkg.conf looks like and I didn't follow the section that talked about making changes to rcS.d.

At the bottom of the document I got scared away by the file corruption talk and I just didn't have a good feeling about trying to go further following the instructions.

If someone knows of a different set of instructions, please let me know.

Thanks for your help!

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Keyring From Feed Doesn't Work In 3.5.2
« on: January 09, 2005, 10:00:52 am »
I used to use keyring to manage my passwords in the old Sharp ROM for the SL-5000D.

I recently switched over to OZ 3.5.2 so I could use my Linksys WCF12 and I'm trying to migrate my info to OZ.  I hoped that I could just install keyring and copy the pwd file and all would be well.

I installed keyring from the package manager (vi wifi connection) and when I click on keyring to start it ... nothing happens.  I've flipped the battery switch to force a reboot and keyring still does the same thing the next time I try to start it.

Anyone know what is going on?

Regards,

Brian
