Sharp ROMs / Watapon ROM
« on: February 09, 2005, 09:56:01 pm »
i appreciate the info on the quickload.  knew about the rotate app a few pages back but decided it would probably be too slow for my use.

i'm using 1.5.6 right now...i've downloaded some ipkg but can't get them to work..  it's probably on oz file, but i can't find libsdl for sharp...  is there a feed for ipkg in sharp format somewhere?  i was also curious if there was any reason watapon still uses the sharp packaging system--i'm guessing oz deviated for a good cause.

EDIT:  well i got snes9x working but i can't quit it...  lol.

just wanted to say i really like watapon, tried oz for a while but it had so many things i didn't like.  oh and anyone know how to quickload all the pim applications?  i want the pim stuff to load so much quicker than it is...

i wish i had the rotate app like in oz tho, that was a really nice feature.  i would try the one found earlier in the forums, but i read it took like 30 seconds to reorient itself.  curious why the server has to restart (in oz it didn't have to i'm guessing).

probably will start looking into getting fbvnc and snes emus running at some point.  that is, if the usb thing could be fixed...

Windows Issues / Openzaurus And The Sdl-5600
« on: February 02, 2005, 09:38:27 pm »
I noticed a lot of people are having a problem with the SL-5600 and OpenZaurus syncing.  Windows XP says "unrecognized USB device" and Qtopia Desktop doesn't work at all.  Does anyone have a solution for this?  I am using OZ 3.5.2 with Opie.

Also, how do I get my network connection working with this thing?

Sharp ROMs / Resume On Sl-5600 Slow With Openzaurus
« on: February 02, 2005, 07:53:00 pm »
ok doesn't seem to give any sort of information why it would suspend for so long.  i am assuming it is some sort of kernel problem.  the watapon kernel works great--is there a way to simply use its kernel??

while i'm asking, how do you set up the kde pim software for windows?

EDIT:

it turns out that for some reason, when the unit turns off by itself, it takes like 3 seconds to start up..  wtf?

EDITEDIT:

apm --suspend, and it starts up _instantaneously_.  trying to look into it.

Sharp ROMs / Resume On Sl-5600 Slow With Openzaurus

By 'resuming' I assume you mean a long pause on power-up?

I'm running 3.5.2 on my 5600 and don't seem to have a problem. Could it be Wifi or network related? What card(s) do you have plugged in?

Run 'dmesg' and look carefully at the output for any unusual errors.

Which version of oz are you running?

thanks for response.  yes, i mean when the system has already been booted and everything but it has suspended, and i press the cancel button to turn it on.  i figured resume was a good term for it since suspend is when you "turn it off."  i was using oz 3.5.2 with opie on a regular 5600 with nothing special (no wifi etc; you have to have cards for those right?).  i really want to use oz, so i'm intrigued that no one else has this problem.

i'm using watapon right now, and it works about 2-3 seconds after a press the cancel button.  oz looks awesome tho, so twould be nice to get this problem solved.  so maybe i'll backup and go try it.

Sharp ROMs / Resume On Sl-5600 Slow With Openzaurus

For some reason, my SL-5600 is having a horrible time resuming with OpenZaurus installed, using OPIE.  Is this a known issue?  It takes it approx. 20-30 seconds to resume, which seems unacceptable.  Are there workarounds?  Is this a kernel problem?
