thanks... i got the files.  i have clinical at a hospital today at 9am to 11pm(need to study pathophysiology, drugs, iv's before hand).  Taking care of 3 patients.  Ill work on it friday.

So far, everything works on my pda.  no font problems at all with my current setup.  Ill look into cacko on friday morning and find out why it isnt working.  It is a font issue probably asking for a size that doesnt exist.  I glanced at the ".js" files but it just locked up my pc.  Pretty big.  Ill try another software friday morning while i work on the 2 new themes for cacko.

updated.........i can now view it.  Looks simple...now its all about trial and error.

i've been using it in the hospital, and have discovered that if I click the button on the taskbar to fit all the text into one viewable window, the funny font goes away and I can read everything.

it's probably not a Cacko issue. thanks for your help, and enjoy the updated drug guide. i find the drug guide very useful and not too lengthy. are your medical references useful when you're on the floor?

first off---"Could not open file

.....remove all spaces and capital letters and see if it works...(including changing the folder names.
I don't understand. Are you talking about your own CD files?

cacko uses a dif set of fonts which disables the originals.  You may need to go back to stock and try my ipk installer which translates it to english and my method of installing opera 7.30

I can also send you my cd if you preffer for testing purpouses since you own an updated drug guide....i dont have a problem.  Im curious since i was about to update mines myself if it is a font issue.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=113201\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

So your method of installing opera 7.30 would involve going back to original Sharp Rom 3.10 or 3.13 and then installing Opera? Why are you still using the original Sharp ROM?

I'll send you a copy of the CD.

You're right. Your screenshots look way better. But I'm not going for looks here. I'm lucky if I can just keep my Z functioning.

I need to ask you some questions.

are you using cacko 1.23?  and does the menus look like that by default?  then it is a font issue.

ill post a pick on here because it looks way different than that...  mines looks way better.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=113196\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]

yes, i am using cacko 1.23. the menu looks fine now. i rebooted, and all the normal fonts reappeared. if i use the drug guide with the keyboard closed, i can view all the fonts in the drug guide. you should be able to see that from the fourth picture that i posted.

Okay, here's the screenshot of Phenytoin. Notice the squares after Classifications.

And, here are screenshots of my start menu. I've lost my normal font and am getting this "garbage" in my start menu, taskbar and clock. This is maybe a problem with Cacko, which I've had installed for at least a month and have not had any problems with.

Before this garbage font showed up, I rotated the screen. I rebooted and the garbage font went away.

So..if I open the Prentice Drug Guide with my screen rotated--the keyboard is not available--the garbage font goes away and I can read the drug classification. To take a picture I had to use the keyboard. The screenshot switched to the landscape screen, but the drug classification is still in a readable font.

Without shutting down or rebooting, I tested it again with the screen rotated to clamshell mode--keyboard is available--and the garbage font returns.

 [ Invalid Attachment ]

I read in another post, that rotating the screen will give you garbage fonts. Seems like I'd have to go back into my font library to find out if something is missing in the "code". For now though, I think I'll just have to use the drug guide using handwriting. Unless, there's a quick answer.

Can you recommend a good Linux tutorial?

can you post a screenshot of a drug known and i can compare it to it?  i am running stock sharprom.
[div align=\"right\"][a href=\"index.php?act=findpost&pid=113081\"][{POST_SNAPBACK}][/a][/div]
is there an easy way to take a screenshot?

the font that is missing is the font following "Classifications:" in the red box for each drug monograph. in the drug book it appears like a small all caps font in Times Romans. All the other fonts appear fine.

I went to bdicty.  purchased the medical encyclopedia, medical dictionary, medical acronyms, for the ...i forgot if it was the palm or the windows.  anyway, i extracted the files from the zip (its zip and not the exe)and placed them in qtpalmtop directory under bdicty on an sd card.  the software (an old one)bidicty can use the files off the sd card.  The only problem i have with it is number values.  It will not tell me normal range for eldery is 97 degrees and therapeutic fever is not over 100.3 degrees f.  it has no font for numbers.

now for the drug guide, i have 2 of them.  one of them i had to make hand made and redirect the links on an html (took me 30 minutes)  the other one was already set.  I just looked for index.html and started from there.

if you have msn messenger, i can get with you on msn and i can kinda help you debug your stuff.  not sure what drug guide you are using.

msn messenger is cresho@hotmail.com

Hi,

I am a nursing student too and am excited to finally get complete drug info on my Z. Thanks for the helpful info. I am running Cacko 1.23 on a C860 with Opera 7.25 Browser already installed. So I skipped the instructions on installing the opera browser and fixing it in the terminal. I too am a Zaurus beginner and am a bit scared off by terminal commands.

I don't use my Zaurus to connect to the Internet, yet. Opera was really really slow opening local files on my Z. So I went thru the Files tab.

When I try to open StartHere I get a message:

Could not open file
file://localhost/usr/mnt.rom/cf/Prentice CD/DGData/frameset/home.html

If I open the "Search" file, though, I can search my drugs. So it works.

The only problem is the drug classification font does not show. It looks like Helvetica caps. I don't know how to install fonts on my Zaurus, yet.

Do you use BDicty only for lexicons or reference books that you download onto your Z?

danke,
bethany

Sharp ROMs / Cacko 1.23 And C860--enter Runlevel:
« on: January 10, 2006, 08:43:26 pm »
*IGNORE THIS POST. I reread and reread the instructions until I finally got it.

I just flashed Cacko 1.23 to my C860 following all the instructions on maslovsky's website.
When the C860 reboots I get a line at the bottom of the screen "Enter runlevel:" and a flashing cursor. I've tried entering 5 and just letting it sit there. But nothing's happening. What have I done wrong? The FAQ at my-zaurus.narod.ru is not helpful.

I've used the same CF card to do a NAND restore to the original Sharp ROM in the past. But this is the first time that I'm flashing a ROM.

I'd appreciate any help.

Cxx0 General discussions / Info: Charging and Ghosting
« on: December 20, 2005, 02:07:05 pm »
I have a C860 which seems to have battery problems as well. I went into the service menu, following Aussie's instructions. From the posts I gathered that the appropriate/factory setting for the battery should be 208. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't have a multimeter or any wires, so I went into "Battery Adjust" and stayed there until "Main Bat AD" reached 208. What units does this number correspond to? When I, at first, was charging the battery in "Charge" and switching back to Battery Voltage Check, it seemed like the voltage increased by 0.1 V with each unit (201 to 202 for example). But then why not keep charging until 360? Is it just that 208 signifies "Charge the battery until it achieves 4.1 V?"

Anyhow, I'm happy to say that after leaving the service menu, my Zaurus turned on. Thank you for leading me in the right direction.

Cxx0 General discussions / C860 Charging Problem (not Battery)
« on: November 22, 2005, 11:11:00 pm »
I have no idea what you guys are talking about. Someday I may learn about battery terminals and fuses. Hopefully not anytime soon.

My Zaurus C860 has been a brick for the past 4 months. I ordered a new battery, placed it in, charged it and nothing worked. Today I was thinking of how to get rid of my Zaurus. I came to the forum and was inspired by you all not to give up. It was easier than I thought. I reinserted the battery, plugged in the charger and voila! it came back to life. I am amazed and so happy to have it back. I'm hoping it just needed a new battery.

Thanks for replying.  I wasn't able to get into the service mode.  Have you had to replace your battery frequently?

I'm not one who likes to replace rechargeable batteries.  But hopefully a new battery will solve this problem.

My c860 is not turning on.  I didn't think this to be a battery issue until I read your post.  Even when my Z is plugged into the wall outlet, it will not turn on.  Do you think that could still be a battery issue?

Qt/Qtopia / Resolution/Rotation
« on: February 22, 2005, 01:55:16 am »
Is the magnified display option supposed to show up with every icon when you hold down on it?  I have a c860 Z with Sharp ROM. I installed an application, and unchecked the magnified display option. When I uninstalled it, I had problems with the screen not rotating.  I had to do a hard reset to fix it.  I'd like to know why the screen rotations got screwed up and why I was unable to find the magnified display option afterwards.  But since I'm new to Linux, maybe it's better not to know.

Windows Issues / No Sync - Intellisync on PC & SL-3000
« on: February 22, 2005, 01:37:59 am »
Well, I have a c860.  I don't see an internal HDD option on my PC link setting.  Is that only a feature of the c3000.

I can't get mine to sync via Intellisync or Qtopia Desktop.  I tried both TCP/IP and IO settings.  When I startup Intellilsync or Qtopia Desktop on my PC, the Dialup Connection pops up[my Internet connection is a dialup modem].  It seems to me that it's looking for a network connection and not finding it.  I was not able to find any network adapters in any of the downloaded or CD files which I have, only WDM adapter files.

Anyhow, I am really confused and wondering if syncing my Zaurus is really worth the effort.

Thanks Marc, it works :
first I deinstalled everything (the intellisync included)
then put the zaurus' PC link settings on the TCP/IP connection option
installed again the zaurus CD : written in japanese... second link
then validation of all the parts of the process, confidently.
At the end, the connection to the PC was possible.
Putty works.
NB :
to let the zaurus be recognised as a mass storage device, the PC link settings on the zaurus must be put on Storage - internal HDD or different devices put on it CF /SD cards)
then plug the zaurus to the USB port... it's then useable as a big USB key

Linux Issues / Sync Problems With C860
« on: February 19, 2005, 04:31:50 pm »
Hi,

I skimmed through your thread here.  I have almost no experience with Linux, and cannot get my Z to sync or connect to my PC which runs Windows ME.
What's the difference between USB I/O and USB TCP/IP. I only have the USB SLvers3 WDM driver.  Where can I get the USB TCP/IP Network Adapter if I want to try that?

I really don't want to use Outlook, as I've been able to avoid it so far. I'd like to use QTopia, but right now it looks impossible.

cyphactor--I tried the Zaurus Synchronization Repository, but as I have no idea what you guys are talking about I'm not sure what I ought to download --- a source tallbar (???) or an rpm (????).

Any feedback would be helpful.
