Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Oz 3.5.4 With Sharp-compat Libs
« on: June 04, 2006, 07:36:08 pm »
I'm having the flickering problem too.  Also every app I've tried it on is missing all of it's text.  The flickering is annoying but the lack of text makes them unusable.

Thanks for this.  So far it's the only way I can get mine working.  Did you ever find a better way?

OpenZaurus/Opie/Qtopia / No Lcd Suspending On Collie With Oz 3.5.3
« on: June 01, 2005, 06:10:54 pm »
It probably won't help but I can verify that it doesn't work with a fresh install using the 32-32 on my 5500.  Also, using the command line and qcop won't turn off the lcd.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe 3.5.2 & Media Player
« on: February 17, 2005, 08:08:06 pm »
So now what  are my options for  GPE and the 5500?

XMMS: There doesn't seem to be a x11 version.
mplayer:  Doesn't work out of the box and every thread that talks about iends with the answer being use kino.
kino:       It looks as if Kino can't run on the 5500.
nmf:        Not in the feeds and no links to ipk's anywhere.
mpegplayer:  A search of the forums turned up nothing about this...

GPE looks like it has so much potential it would be a shame to have to give up on it because I can't play an mp3.

I have a 5500 and am having no luck getting mplayer to work.  The mentioned threads don't seem to be of any use for the 5500.  At this point I don't care what I use I'd just like to be able to play mp3s.

xmms  doesn't exsist in any of the other feeds.  So, when I saw this I didn't think it would work but thought it wouldn't hurt to try and afterall you guys know a lot more about it then I do.  Thanks for  the help though .

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe And Plucker

Code: [Select]
Unknown charset 2252 encountered.  Skipping text.
messages.

xmms installs from the feeds, with a little help, but I still can't get it to work:
Code: [Select]
No Qt/Embedded server appears to be running.
If you want to use this program as a server, add the "-qws" command-line option.

Trying to run it as a server doesn't work either.  I didn't think it would work but this this thread does it should.  Is there something I'm missing?

If not what are my alternatives?  I've seen a few references to nmf but I haven't been able to find it anywhere (which makes sense if it's not in the feeds but why isn't it in the feeds?)

I used to have mplayer working from the command line when I was running tkc but I have no idea what I did to get that working.  I do know that simpily installing the mplayer ipk on gpe doesn't seem to be enough but not sure what else I need to do?

Thanks,
Dan

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Gpe And Plucker

I have an extensive library of plucker files and would very much like to be able to use them with GPE.  Currently it lets me select the file and then dies without a word.

Thanks,
Dan

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.2 Gpe On Collie No Suspend/resume?

So when the Cancel-Button is pressed for a few seconds, the XF86PowerDown Keycode is sent and as a consequence apm --suspend is called.

I can't get my Collie to resume after holding in cancel.  I think I might be misunderstanding your post.  So, this is what I did and maybe you can tell me where I went wrong:

1.  executed:
ipkg install xmodmap

2. created file collie.xmodmap:
keycode 96 = XF86Calendar
keycode 97 = telephone
keycode 48 = XF86Start
keycode 98 = XF86Mail

3. executed:
xmodmap collie.xmodmap
rm /etc/X11/Xsession.d/90keylaunch

4. insetred into /usr/share/matchbox/kbdconfig under ### Extra keys:
XF86Calendar=!!gpe-calendar
telephone=!!gpe-contacts
XF86Start=desktop
XF86Mail=!!dillo
XF86Music=!!gpe-nmf
Escape=close
XF86PowerDown=!apm --suspend

Windows Issues / Funny USB Networking Quirk with OZ + XP

If you plug the zaurus in while its on, USB Networking fails and windows gives you the "USB Device Not Recognised" error, which i have _never_ seen before.

However, if you turn the zaurus off using the battery compartment slider, then turn it back on, and plug it in before it's booted, usb networking works fine. However, if you unplug it after you plugged it in and its all loaded up, the "USB Device Not Recognised" error come back.

I'm having the same issue with 3.5.2.  Has any fix been found yet?
