General Discussion / WFC12 on 5500 w/ OZ 3.2
« on: March 10, 2004, 11:23:52 pm »
I have a 5500 w/ a WFC12. Wellenrheiter seems to be able to scan networks no problem, but I\'ve never been able to get on to one with DHCP. I\'m kinda wondering if the WiFi card isn\'t working properly?
When you assign a new SSID to the network card through the GUI applet, how do you collect an IP? Does it do it automatically when you okay it or is there something I should be doing to re-init the card? Restarting networking from console or re-inserting the card seem to be a bit drastic. There must a more elegant solution? Anyone ever had any trouble with the WFC12?

General Discussion / attaching to hotspots
« on: March 09, 2004, 01:34:37 pm »
Hey all, I have a 5500 with a Linksys WiFi card.  I can scan for hotspots with wellenrheiter, but it doesn\'t allow me to log on to them like airsnort. =(
I\'ve tried entering the SSID shown for the network into the network config of the card (they don\'t have WEP enabled as far as wellenrhieter is concerned) and using dhcp to get on the network, but that doesn\'t work either.
Any suggestions for how I can log on to hotspots when I find them?

I installed wellenreiter. It\'s okay, but it doesn\'t log you on to open networks. Is there anyway i can do this easily?

I understand that airsnort doesn\'t run on zaurus?
I have a 5500 and I\'m looking for a softwrae package that can detect and join open networks.  I work downtown and there a dozens of open networks all the time that would allow me free access. What software could I use?

Sharp ROMs / Rom Update crashes
« on: October 16, 2003, 10:04:18 pm »
Do I need to update the usbdrivers before the upgrade? If I can sync should I be able to update?
I\'m still getting the abnormal program termination when I try to update it.

Accessories / SD corruption & formatting
« on: October 16, 2003, 09:41:46 pm »
I replaced the chip. No joy.
I replaced the reader and it worked like a charm. Proof once more that SanDisk gear is crap! Don\'t use sandisk readers or chips.

Accessories / SD corruption & formatting
« on: October 16, 2003, 12:05:34 pm »
I bought a 256MB Kingston SD chip. Straight out of the box I dropped it into the zaurus.  The zaurus seemed to recognize it and listed it under the system info -] storage, but I could see how to write to it.  I guessed I had to dump data on to the chip via a USB reader on my PC. I bought a reader and put the chip in. The reader can\'t seem to initialize the chip. Whenever I click on the removeable drive icon in windows it locks up explorer. I downloaded a SD formatting utility called widowmaker for the zaurus and tried to format it from there, but it didn\'t seem to do anything.
Did I corrupt the chip by putting it in the zaurus without formatting it first? I\'m going to try and exchange the chip, but I\'m curious what I did wrong.

Thx
