Software / Printing Spreadsheets
« on: April 20, 2005, 02:51:21 pm »
Has anyone successfully printed a spreadsheet from the Zaurus? I need to print a .xls file made in Hancom Sheet over a wi-fi network using IP printing to an HP PSC 2710. I used to use an iPaq to do this, but it was too unstable to use. I thought of trying to convert the spreadsheet to postscript, but the only tools I can find for that are a Windows program and a Perl script that runs on Windows.

Mac Issues / Xcode Development
« on: March 01, 2005, 12:43:30 pm »
This seemed out of place in all of the development forums. Is anyone out there developing software for the Zaurus in XCode? I am thinking of writing a simple text only application. I don't want to deal with the complexities of a GUI and the screen on the SL-5600 is too small for everything this has to do if I want to maintain a good design. I was thinking of writing it on the Mac, then, when everything works, compile it directly on the Z, hopefully using the same version of gcc. This is my plan if I can't find a way to make XCode generate ARM machine code with elf headers to run on my Z, which is running Watapon ROM. I'll be using C++ if that matters to anyone.

If anyone cares, the reason I want to use XCode is that it is the only IDE that I've ever liked. Before XCode, I did all of my coding in vi. It also contains the most user friendly debugger that I've ever seen. The only problem is that when it makes a terminal application, it generates PPC code for Darwin.

Sharp ROMs / Watapon ROM
« on: February 20, 2005, 02:04:05 am »
I installed the rotate application mentioned a few pages back, but I didn't like it. Is there a rotate application like the one on OZ? I am replacing an iPaq 4705. On that, I often have to rotate the screen without losing what I am working on. The rotate application previously mentioned closes any running applications and reloads the GUI. How can I rotate without closing all applications?

General Discussion / I Want My Kompany Rom Back!

Thanks. Watapon solved all of my problems. Everything works, it runs fast, and it even looks nice. Now I can take my iPaq back to the store for the second time and leave it.

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Web Browser Problems

Thanks. I hope that works. I've tried Opera, but I get a problem that looks like a linking issue. Maybe one of these links will fix it. I'll try it tomorrow.

General Discussion / I Want My Kompany Rom Back!
« on: February 18, 2005, 11:42:27 pm »
I had the Kompany rom running on my SL-5600. It worked. It was a little slow, but everything worked. I had Opera and Hancom Sheet and they worked just fine. My Linksys WCF12 worked on my multiple networks with no reconfiguring for each one. Then I made a silly mistake. I wanted to try another rom. Zynergy didn't seem to have anything to configure the network. OZ-qpe didn't have the module for my network card. OZ-opie crashes when running Konqueror and won't run Opera at all. Sharp doesn't connect to the network. I want the Kompany rom back, but the link on their site is broken. I've been seeing that a lot lately. Sharp took down the community site and broke a lot of other sites. I emailed the webmaster at Kompany, but the problem hasn't been fixed in the week since I emailed. They didn't reply with a new link. I can find the 5500 version elsewhere, but I can't find anything that suggests that the 5600 version even exists. I know it does because I was running it until a few days ago. Does anyone have a copy, or at least know where I can find one?

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / Web Browser Problems

I got that taken care of. Opera still fails, but it looks like a linking problem. Since I have no source, I'll have to settle for Konqueror. The problem now is that if I hit an icon in the menu bar, the Zaurus locks up. I have to hit reset to do anything else. When I was installing it, it claimed that it was unable to resolve the dependency pcre 4.4. I installed libpcre4.4 from the OZ feed before installing Konqueror, also from the OZ feed. Any ideas?

I seem to be missing a library. When I run konqueror from the command line, I get,

./konqueror: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

I did a quick check of the OpenZaurus feed and a quick google search. Both turned up nothing. Where can I get libstdc++.so.6?

I mentioned Opera in the title. I don't currently have it installed and removed it before I figured out where the binaries are located. When I tried to run it from the Applications tab, it gave the same behavior as konqueror. Both will appear to start, but quit before they can do anything. The icon will show up at the bottom of the screen like they are running, but disappear after less than a second.
