FYI.  You'll want to strip the binary.

Before:
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       772619 Oct  9 04:54 x11vnc
After:
-rw-r--r--    1 root     root       227836 Oct  9 04:55 x11vnc

How do you upload to pdaxrom, I cant find an upload page there.
Request an account from Laze. Laze <laze@pdaxrom.org>.  Once you
have an account, you can upload and maintain packages on pdaxrom.

They should show up right away in the unstable feed area.  Do you
see it in your IPK Feed editor?

Also, will this include the vncserver?

Any suggestions?

In any case I suspect that this will be a fruitless effort as the (unsuccessful) result of running xscreensaver-demo is:

xscreensaver: undefined symbol: __divsi3
...
I've rebuilt xscreensaver and hacks for the 1.1.0RC3 rom.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / xosview uploaded
« on: September 14, 2004, 11:57:40 pm »
FYI.  I've built and uploaded xosview(http://xosview.sourceforge.net/) to the
pdaxrom site: http://www.pdaxrom.org/unstable/xosview_1.8.2_armv5tel.ipk

This is a nice graphical display of system resources.
When you use the icon, it runs it without disk/swap.  I don't really know what those mean
in a zaurus environment.  Nothing I did ever had them register.  I guess everything is
represented by memory.

The cpu shows 100% 'nice' just like the one on the taskbar.  But it shows you
when user apps are using the cpu.  It would be nice if the taskbar one showed
the user cpu usage.  I don't like the 100% all the time!  It seems like my Zaurus
is working too hard.  I may have to give it a raise.

This was built with the 1.1.0RC3 sdk.

Have fun zaurusers.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Unstable feed

It would be nice if the ipk feed could be sorted by date!  It is becoming very difficult to see what\'s new...

Laze,

I think matchbox is fine.  I would like to see something other than the \"default\" scheme as the default. (Sounds strange).
It is very ugly and gives people a poor first impression.

Also, I\'d love to see the default user NOT being root.  You should only need to su to install pkgs and such.  Use the
sudo package to help there.  It\'s just good for people to understand the proper use of root on a linux/unix platform. (IMHO).

Zaurus - pdaXrom / XPat2 Again.
« on: June 04, 2004, 07:29:56 pm »
All,

With Tim\'s permision, I\'ve rebuilt and repackaged the xpat2 game.

I just uploaded it.  Take a look in the unstable feed list.

Here is what changed:

1. It now uses the motif libs (Looks a bit better).
2. I designed my own smaller cards.  The original ones don\'t fit on the Z screen very well.
3. Added some pdaXrom graphics (See screenshot).
4. Cleaned up the directory structure.
5. Made the pkg as small as possible (I kept the multi-language capabilities).

Don\'t forget, if you use mouse button 2, you can select and place the
cards.  Mouse button 1 uses auto-move.

Have fun!

Zaurus - pdaXrom / XScreensaver 4.15
« on: May 26, 2004, 04:10:08 pm »
I have built and uploaded xscreensaver for the pdaXrom:

http://www.pdaxrom.org/ipk_feed.php?menuid...unstableipkfeed

Instructions from the installer:

Make sure you\'ve installed sudo!!!

Configuration:
Add the following line somewhere (before openbox) in your /home/root/.xinitrc:
sudo -u zaurus xscreensaver -nosplash&
This will start the xscreensaver server whenever you start X
If you want to be able to lock the screen, then set a password on the zaurus user:
# passwd zaurus

only some of the \'hacks\' (screen savers) have been included here.  Install the others
if you like.  They can take up a lot of space.  So I recommend only installing the
ones you really like.

Run the config from the System tools to make changes.

------------------------
I\'ve only included a few hacks (screen savers) in this ipk.  I didn\'t want it to be too big.  So, I\'ve also uploaded a bunch of other hacks:

http://www.pdaxrom.org/ipk_feed.php?menuid...unstableipkfeed

You may want to select your favorite hacks and delete the rest.  They can be quite big.

Have fun.

Zaurus - pdaXrom / sudo
« on: May 26, 2004, 03:48:53 pm »
shrubbery,

You\'ve already found xscreensaver?  I just uploaded it!  Is it working for you?  I had to do the sudo thing to allow for screen locking (you can\'t lock screen as root).

Zaurus - pdaXrom / XPat 1.07 Available For pdaXrom 1.0.5
« on: May 17, 2004, 10:15:40 pm »
Great stuff.  Is there a way to run this in a little bit smaller of a window?  It just sits outside of the 640x480 window.  Using the scrollbars is silly...

Thanks.
