Regarding the syncing problem, I posted the specific issue in a more appropriate place:

Windows Issues / Wireless Intellisync Via Access Point
« on: February 28, 2005, 03:38:14 am »
I want to sync my 5500 running OZ 3.5.2 to a Windows XP desktop running Outlook via Intellisync 1.43.  The 5500 is already networked via a wifi card and router.

Router: 192.168.2.1
Desktop: 192.168.2.2
Zaurus: 192.168.2.4

The problem seems to be that there are only two Communication Options for the desktop Intellisync software: USB or serial.  Neither will allow me to specify the correct address for my Zaurus, they instead give me an error:
"Please change USB IP address on Zaurus to 192.168.3.201"

I've read through all the threads which relate to this, and I haven't seen any solutions that fit my problem.   They all seem to require that access to the Z be through a wifi card on the desktop, rather than a router.

Any ideas?  I'm a bit of a networking n00b, Is there a way in XP to trick the system into substiting one outbound IP for another?  Or perhaps the intellisync software can be hacked to get around the error message?  Or am I missing something obvious...

Thanks,

Angstrom & OpenZaurus / 3.5.2 Questions (wifi Sync, Sd Install)

Hello all,

I just dusted off my 5500 and decided to play with it again.  Installed 3.5.2 Collie 64-0 Image and Wireless via Belkin Card and Router works like a charm (at least for pinging).

Installed Sharp Intellisync 1.43 on the PC.

Questions:

-Can I Sync via wireless to Outlook and if so, how? I really would prefer not to use the cradle.  Zaurus and Desktop are both on the same subnet.

-What changes should I make from the start to keep my root from filling up (I remember that being a problem last time.  Lardman mentioned uninstalling some apps and reinstalling them.  Which apps should I do that with, and how should I reinstall them in order to ensure they wind up on SD?  An example command line syntax or somesuch is what I'm looking for, not sure which installer to use, as I read many reports of problems.

-Any recommendations for things to try out?  I gather Opera is the recommended browser, Opie-reader the recommended reader.  Any other app recommendations or changes to make right after install?

Thanks!
