Check out https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11282.  Basically, you show a CF/SD card of yours (attached to the Zaurus) as a mass USB storage device.  This will be the receiver.  The sender will be a USB drive/whatever you want to transfer from.  When you click the transfer button, it will transfer ALL files from the sender to the receiver.  However, this is a theoretical.  No one has actually bought/used one yet.

Cxx0 General discussions / C860 Usb Drive/storage (again)

Thanks for the replies, guys.  I had a scheme in mind where I would keep an SD card only for documents, so that when I exposed it to a USB drive containing the same amount of documents, I could transfer those over and then be free to move around with only the C860.

However, since then I have realized that I would need to have a computer around anyway (to transfer the files from CD/DVD/Internet to the USB drive).  So, I've decided to just stick with the regular syncing functions and work it that way.

But, can't the C860 act as a USB card reader?  In that case, you could have the C860 show its SD/CF card as the USB storage on one side, have the files you want to transfer on the other side, and transfer them.  That way, your files will be on the C860 and you won't have to carry the CF USB dongle+USB drive around with you.

However, I don't actually have the C860 in my hand yet and the last PDA I used was 5 years ago, so maybe I'm just pulling stuff out of thin air.

Hello all,

I have been following the discussions here quite religiously, and they are very interesting.  I recently bought a used C860 on eBay (just sent the payment an hour ago) and am wondering about USB storage.

The reason I am writing this thread is that something in the thread "C860 as usb host by software?" (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=4842) caught my attention.

Since then, I have been looking for a cheaper way to attach USB drives to the Cxxx series.  I have found a class of products, let's call them external bridges, and I haven't seen much discussion about them here.  Here are a few examples:

http://www.usbgear.com/USBG-OTG1.html
http://www.delkin.com/delkin_products_usb_bridge.html

Could either of these be used so that the regular C860 USB sync cable could be hooked into one end, and the USB drive could be hooked into the other end.

I believe the devices require external power, but are a lot cheaper than going with a USB-CF card.  Also, this leaves your CF slot free for additional storage/wireless capabilities.

Hello,

This is my first post here (just got introduced to the forum today).  It really is a great resource.

Having said that, this message is aimed mostly at stupkid.  I would like to know if there is some place that has directions on how to compile ipks for packaging/installation/distribution.  I want to create some (specifically for programming languages/environments) and don't want to keep adding to your list.

Thank you,

zakaluka.
