« on: October 26, 2006, 10:08:18 am »
I have recently installed ROMv3 from the USA MyZaurus.com website to update from v2.37 for betterOutlook 2003 sync , but it failed and now will not reboot. Is there a recovery ROM program available and has anyone similar problem with fixes. Thanks

Accessories / Aircable Bluetooth For Sl5500
« on: July 27, 2005, 08:41:30 am »
Re Aircable Bluetooth for Zaurus SL5500.  I have just obtained an Aircable  bluetooth unit from www.trisoft.de to connect to my Sony Erricsson moblie-T610.  I appear to have it paired with my new Sony T610, but can anyone tel me how to correctly set up the internet wizard or Network setting on the 5500 to actually use it. I have tried to edit the etc/ppp file but I don't think I have set up the ir port to switch to I/O port. I am missing something obvious, but not sure what. Appecaite a 'dummies guide'. Accessories / Aircable Bluetooth Of Cf Bluetooth

Re Aircable Bluetooth for Zaurus SL5500. I hope that you guys are still there as I have only just joined the forum and seen this item. I have just obtained an Aircable I/O port bluetooth unit. The German distributor for Aircable has some on their website at www.trisoft.de at reasonable 65 Euros delivered to UK. Having got it, I appear to have it paired with my new Sony T610, but can anyone tel me how to correctly set up the internet wizard or Network setting on the 5500 to actually use it. the guide makes assumptions of knowledge I do not have.
Thanks Chris at CCS1

What will I really see a s the major differences in using the Aircable vs a CF bluetooth card?

The reported power consumption of the Aircable is significantly lower than those of CF cards.

The Aircable is more vulnerable to being damaged/damaging the Z if dropped.

Are teh speeds the same or about equal?

No:  the Aircable runs at 115.2kb.  Some CF cards run at only 57.6kb,  but some can also be set to higher baud rates.  This may or may not matter for your purposes.

Now we get to the fun part:  the Aircable might be able to do a lot more than simple replacement of a single serial cable.  E.g.,  sending/receiving audio,  or maintaining more than one connection at once (you could program your Z to automatically dial your cellphone,  and make obscene calls in a synthesized voice      ).

Or it might not:  Aircable is very vague about the capabilities of the Z model (or even about whether there's more than one model).  If all you want is a simple serial link,  that doesn't matter.  If you want to do more,  you need to investigate further.
