Yeah, I've been digging around all night can't get past this error.

It works now....

The Problem was the Prism2-Drivers shipped and used by default for my Asus Spacelink WL-110.

From the wlan.conf-File (in /etc/pcmcia), I took the Paragraph

card "Asus...."
   version "ASUS......"
    bind "prism2_cs"

copied this and pasted it into the "spectrum.conf"
Now I changed the "prism2_cs" to "orinoco_cs"

then you have to move or delete the wlan.conf File
(I moved it for switching back to it later...)

then restarted the pcmcia-services...

Reset the Card, then resume it...

cardctl reset
cardctl scheme CardResume

...and that was it....

eth0 should be up now (ifconfig) and also should
give you wireless extensions (iwconfig)

Wellenreiter then uses eth0 with Orinoco-Drivers.

and ofcourse scans....

If you want back to wlan.conf, move that file again to etc/pcmcia
and restart pcmcia-services....

After this, eth0 should have no wireless extensions... and you are
using the standard drivers again....

Again my Configuration

SL5500 - Spacelink WL110 - CackoROM (64-0)

Would this work with Linksys WCF12?

Security and Networking / Wve 16 Vs 17?
« on: April 15, 2005, 06:46:08 pm »
Hello,
Just got my SL-5500 in the mail today, so I'm as fresh as they come.

I've installed OpenZaurus OPIE 3.5.3 and I'm trying to get wellenreiter up and running. I've installed it and it launches fine, but within the application if I try to start capturing traffic it tells me that one thing is WVE 17 and the drivers are WVE 16. I saw instructions about Orinoco drivers but I'm using a Linksys WCF12 (arrived today as well).

Also curious about installing a web browser if anyone has a recommendation.

I also purchase a SD card, the walkthrough's I've been using do something like

ipkg -d ram install somepackage

Should I be using
ipkg -d sd install somepackage  instead?

I'm completely knew to handhelds/pda and it baffles me that I can go to a /mnt/ram directory and see files and directories.. still don't get that.

I've been using walkthroughs on irongeek.com that seem really helpful except they are written on 3.5.1 so things are working correctly for me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Ryan Lindfield
