C1000/3x00 General discussions / C-1000 And Serial Cable

I suggest *not* buying the SerialIO cable as it seems not to allow receipt of data with the C1/3000. If you get the Sharp cable please reply to this topic so that I know if it works correctly.

If previous is true on voltage when used with C3000 I'll have to concur, on that unless I'm missing the serial /dev/tty??? device complete no response from serialio cable here.
Which is a pity as I got the male version so I could plug the cisco cable in direct.
AND the only reason I went for it was the 'compatible with CE-170TS ' line from SerialIO and the Sharp £50 price tag + shipping in the UK(For a serial cable!!!) now I have to have something that works so will be paying that and more.

If anyone wants to correct or offer dongle advice to a non solder expert I'd be grateful
I got mine from here, not to knock them as they did a splendid service, just hacked off the cable doesn't work with 3000

So I'd guess the question remains - Does the sharp cable work properly?

Software / Gaim Logs In With Gprs But Not Wifi

Strange one here
Gaim <works> with gprs connection to internet(audiovox gprs cf card)
but not when using wireless (dlink cd card)

Everything thing else works on both (Netfront, E-mail etc etc)

I suspcious that perhaps gaim is looking for some sort of proxy but settings have just global proxy set in the gaim account config.
And no proxy in the dial up connections.

Just wondering why it would work with one but not the other.

Any ideas, do I need to manually tap some config file somewhere?

I've finally managed to get gaim running on my SL-C3000 But it only runs in portait mode and 320x240 at that, I've made the libpng fix so I can acutally see the icons and it functions.

Any idea how to get a 640x480 landscape version, so I don't have to type sideways!!

libgaim versions 0.73-1
qpe-gaim 0.4-1
libopie1 1.0.2
libpng12 1.2.5-10

Rom is sharp.
qtopia 1.5.4
kernel 2.4.20
Model:SL-C3000
Rom Version 1.01 JP

Any ideas welcomed.

Security and Networking / How-TO: Connet CF GPRS/GSM (AudioVox RTM8000) to internet

hello - I bought an Ambicom GPRS CF card, are the instructions the same for my card? I've seen a special kernel at steyla.com which is supposed to work.. what do you think?


I've got the steyla kernel, card picked up as ttyS03 ttyS04 (using dmesg)
using minicom -s for test(as connect scripts not working)
I change serial options to
/dev/ttyS3 (Don't ask why, if I feed ttyS03 it exits with no such device)
set speed to 115200
select minicom save as dfl
select exit

Try to type AT
nothing comes back

Yes I've copied over
serial
changed
serial.opt to include the "uart 16550A" string

Getting desparate now going round in circles, anyone got clues?

ps. Yes the card does work when plugged into windows laptop.

libcrypto should be part of OpenSSL. So you may look for an openssl package.

Sharp ROMs / Qtrdesktop C3000 Install

I've been trying to use cacko to install qtrdesktop(seems to be the only place I can find it)
executing from the command line I'm getting the following

qtrdesktop: error while loading share libraries libcrypto.so.0.9.7

I've connected to cacko again to look for said library installation, the nearest I could find was libgcrypt but it didn't like that either.

Does anyone have a clue where to find this sort of stuff online?

ps. the Z is running fresh out of the box with no rom modifcations.
