Security and Networking / Sl-5600 And Wcf54g

I know that this card, as far as I have read, does not work with the Zaurus.  However, I got one from someone so that I could try and make it work with my SL-5600.  Does anybody have any idea how to possibly make the Linksys WCF 54G work with a zaurus?

I found the Linux source code for the Agere chipset inside this card, but I'm not really sure how to use it.

Possible issues: filename wrong, md5sum wrong, windows hiding extensions, card broken, etc.

I think it's very unfair to request support for your problems while ignoring my big fat WARNING

I did see your warning, I have a warning, I just wanted to know.  Thanks.

Are you sure you don't get the kernel "WARNING" at bootup? Are you sure your initrd and kernel have both been flashed?

Actually, I DO get that warning message!  It halts on boot for about a minute saying that the kernel versions don't match.  But I've reflashed it several times following instructions, why wouldn't the kernel reflash as well?

it's prism 2.5 based card - try manually load module hostap_cs after insert. If it works then You have to add that card to /etc/pcmcia/hostap_cs.conf and send that info to us.

How do I manually load it?

I tried a modprobe, and all I got was a series of errors that ended with the module not being loaded.  I got a whole lot of
Code: [Select]
insmod: unresolved symbol hostap_...

Post some info:

'lsmod' with and without the card inserted.

'cardctl info' and 'cardctl status' with the card inserted.

JawZ, I tried your suggestions, but no luck.  Thanks.

I tried both rebooting it with the card and then reflashing with the card inserted.  It detects the card just fine, but I cannot start up the wlan0 in the networking window.

Hi,

I jut recently upgraded from OZ 3.5.2 to 3.5.3 on my Zaurus SL-5600, and I reformatted it so that it is clean.  Everything works great, but when I went to sync everything, I found out that, although it detects my AmbiCom WL1100C WIFI Card, it doesn't recognize any wireless connections under networking.  I tried bringing down all my security on my router, but there is still no card under wlan0.    If I try to start wlan0, it just tells me "Starting Interface Failed".  Why is this happening?  Also, wasn't the connection for the wireless card on the old OZ called wifi0?  Thanks.

Matt
