Haha!

I have actually seen Stevo in the downtown Palo Alto store a couple times...

Good Luck! (Show the people at the genius bar, usually they have a bit of a clue)

How many people here would use KDE if i were to 'tune' it for pdaXrom?
ie. battery, suspend, wifi, etc..
proper menus, slim it down...

does anyone care?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom And Sl-6000
« on: May 22, 2005, 03:17:55 pm »
oh i forgot to add this before "ipkg update, ipkg upgrade"

"echo 'src pda6k http://212.10.30.205/rc10/Zaurus-SL6000/feed/' >> /etc/ipkg.conf"

that *should* setup the correct feed

Zaurus - pdaXrom / Pdaxrom And Sl-6000

I have sucessfully gotten pdaXrom to work on my 6k
This is how I did it:

Flashed to Guylhem's ROM (to partition the internal memory as one moint point)
reboot
then flash to RC10 of pdaXrom for the 6k
reboot
login as "root"
Then type "/etc/rc.d/init.d/wlan start" then "dhcpcd -G 'your gateway IP' wlan0"
That should connect you to the internet (assuming you dont have a WEP key)
Do a "echo 'src pda6k http://212.10.30.205/rc10/Zaurus-SL6000/feed/' >> /etc/ipkg.conf"
then the ususal "ipkg update", "ipkg upgrade"
now type "startx"
matchbox should come up within a few seconds (be patient)
All Done!
the system should be functional now

As for extra packages(like KDE, firefox, etc...) install them to your CF card
DO NOT INSTALL TO THE SD CARD (there is a driver bug)

I am currently working on a X11 configuration app for the 6k specific hardware
I will release it shortly...

X/Qt / Fonts?

I installed the newest version, and it works fine now.
The stable feed of X/Qt is broken I guess...

X/Qt / Fonts?
« on: May 17, 2005, 03:13:52 am »
I just installed pocketworkstation on my SL-6000 using X/Qt and the stock Sharp ROM.
I put KDE on the my zaurus. All was going as planned...
The toolbar came up, the desktop painted properly...
BUt when I open a window, the font is some where around 200 or so (HUGE!!)
And I cant change it!! DOes anyone know how to change the font size via a shell?
It seems to affect all X Applications, so not a problem with KDE.

      Any Ideas?

Zaurus - pdaXrom / pdaXrom on SL-6000

i have managed to get pdaXrom to boot up and the base system seems to work fine, but the x server wont launch. i get an "failure to open screen ':0.0" message.

I used the openzaurus 3.5.3 kernel.

i am going to try the guylhem kernel next. . .
