I have a sl-5500 and love it, I have never had any problems with it.  I use it strictly for addresses, a few pics of kids and animals, medical records and to keep appointments.

I would like to be able to pick up my email as I am out all day sometimes and when I get home I don't always want to boot up my computer, but need to get my business email for the next day.  I don't need to surf the web or sync wireless, I just want to access my email.  I have a wireless network set up at home, what CF card works seemlessly with the sl-5500?

I am running the Sharp Rom v 3.13.

Please only respond if you are using this operating system and let me know if you had to do anything special to get the card to run.

Thanks

Why are you selling it?  Does the Wi Fi work good?

5x00 Hardware / Repair Prices

They will first help you try to reinstall it yourself.  They used this approach with me for 1 year, at which point I convinced them to let me send it in.  They installed the newest ROM 3.13 and gave me a new stylus, I don't remember the exact charge, but it wasn't much and it was well worth it. java script:emoticon(':P')

Since it appears that I've "bricked" my SL5500, does anyone know how much Sharp charges to reinstall the original ROM??

2 cards I know work from personal experience:
SMC EZ Connect 11Mbps Wireless CF Card
Model No: SMC2642W

Linksys Wireless CompactFlash Card 2.4GHz 802.11b
Model No: WCF12

I've been using the SMC EZ connect since OZ 3.2 or so.  Never had to mess with any configurations.  I just plugged it in and it worked.  I got the Linksys card (actually arrived today) because the SMC card is kind of falling apart.  The back is coming unglued and it doesn't always detect correctly any more.  I *have* subjected it to about a year of abuse, carrying ot around in my pocket almost constantly, inserting/removing from the Zaurus multiple times every day.  The Linksys feels a little more solidly constructed to me (and it looks nicer).  When it arrived today I took out the SMC, plugged in the Linksys and OZ just brought the interface right back up.  No configuration changes at all. HTH.

I have a Linksys WCF-12 and it works great with OZ and the Sharp ROM out of the box.

Socket's cards are good in terms of low power use, but they only work out of the box on the Sharp ROM. I had a tough time getting it to work right with OZ, and I couldn't ever get it working with Kismet/Wellenreiter.
